Best phone case for preventing breakage

I have a Moto5G and am looking for a case that will protect it from breaking if dropped, be it screen cracking or damage to the phone itself. This has happened with my last two phones which were unprotected.

I don't want to just buy any old cheap one that doesn't do the job, though neither do I want my phone to resemble a brick or tank.

Also, is it advisable to buy the liquid gel protector to protect the screen? How much should you be paying for that?

These flip wallet style are quite protective, mine jumped in the road at speed from a motorbike a few times, even when open, no damage. I usually put a screen protector also.

I used to use a Griffin Survivor, they are more suited to a building site than a posh restaurant... rain proof, drop proof, but chunky.

I now just use one of the “rubber band” style cases to protect the corners from occasional drops.

Also, I would recommend a tempered glass screen protector.
I dropped my phone many time and I cracked the protector by once. I probably already crack the screen if there is no screen protector
