Hi.
Whilst picking up some xmas bits in Lidl yesterday, I saw that they had moolis on offer in the veg section, so bought one as it looked great value.
Problem is... i can't find any recipes that use it, apart from indian parathas. I was hoping for some other alternatives. Can they go in a stew..or a soup?? or roasted??
Help please!

Mooli
A long white Japanese vegetable of the radish family, also known as daikon. It's crunchy, with a mild peppery flavour, similar to watercress. Unlike other radishes it's as good cooked as it is raw. In Chinese and Japanese cookery it's used for vegetable carving as well as cooking. Mooli is sometimes available in larger supermarkets, but you're more likely to find it in Asian or Caribbean food shops.
Sweet and sour smoked chicken with mooli salad
Yield: 2 servings 4
Plum tomatoes 2 tablespoon Vegetable oil 2 teaspoon Finely chopped fresh ginger 2
Cloves garlic; finely chopped 1
Chinese pear or apple; peeled, cored and
; cut into dice 1 small Onion; finely chopped 1
Red chilli; seeded and finely
; chopped 2
Smoked chicken breasts 1 tablespoon White wine vinegar 1 tablespoon Honey ¼ pint Chicken stock
Cornflour to thicken 1 tablespoon White wine vinegar 3 tablespoon Olive oil ¼ teaspoon Dijon mustard 1
Mooli; peeled
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Cut the tomatoes into quarters. Cut away or scoop out the seeds using a spoon, then place the tomato quarters, skin side down, on a chopping board. With a sharp knife, and keeping the knife as close as possible to the skin, cut away the tomato skin. Cut each piece of tomato flesh in half lengthways. Heat 1tbsp oil in a wok or frying pan. Add chopped ginger and garlic and cook gently for a couple of minutes to soften. Add tomato flesh, diced Chinese pear or apple, onion and chilli and stir fry for a few minutes to soften. In a large bowl, whisk together white wine vinegar, olive oil and Dijon mustard. Season. Using a mandolin, cut the mooli into long thin 'spaghetti' strands, or coarsely grate. Add mooli to the dressing and toss to coat. Pile mooli salad on to a plate and serve with sweet and sour chicken. To cook the chicken, add vinegar, honey and chicken stock. Reduce slightly. Add large pieces of smoked chicken. Thicken with a little cornflour. And remember folks... A cubicle is just a padded cell without the padding!

thanks..lthis recipe looks tasty..but
forgot to say that:
i'm really after a hot dish for the cold weather (and also vegetarian).
I'm wondering if i should just put it in a pot with other veggies and beans and see what happens! (it looks quite 'watery' in texture tho).0 -

Hi everyone,
I have some Indian Radish sitting in the fridge, that I would also like to use.
Does it need cooking? What can I do with it that is quick and simple uncooked or cooked not a problem.
BTW I bought it reduced price 20p and it was limp. All I did was put it in a bowl of water overnight and by morning it was as good as new, now 5 or so days later I still haven't used it, but it's still hard and good.
Found this which is too complicated, but maybe one day....

Hi wig,
There's an earlier thread that may help so I've added your thread to it to keep the ideas together.
