The rentals market is a bit like farming. Farmers aren't really interested in hearing from the sheep.

    That's a good one :-)

And that's why I love this country, the UK will not allow millions of people to pay for their own homes through a mortgage, but it will allow them to pay for mine and all the other landlords, lovely jubbly

A sheep does not pay a farmer, a sheep does not have a choice of which farm they go on, thats like saying Tesco's is a bit like farming or anything where someone buys or rents something...

I am not sure what point you are trying to make.

But I would argue that the vast majority of people that rent just do not have what it takes or are responsible enough to own property. I am certain that 90% of HPC are a little over average pay and less for example.

Funnily enough not everyone can be on above average pay, or have the various subtle breaks required to get property without average pay.

From your link in black, and my response in red

Nearly one in five mortgage-holders has an interest-only home loan, meaning they would need savings or other funds to pay a final lump sum.

All our mortgages are interest only, not all our properties are mortgaged (for context)

Many borrowers were ignoring letters from lenders, it found.

I can't recall receiving one of these letters, but it is possible I just threw it straight in the bin, without a moment's thought.

Interest-only deals allow borrowers to pay off the amount borrowed only when the mortgage term ends, usually after 25 years, but there is concern that a host of homeowners do not have plans in place to pay the final bill.

It's not an issue to us, our disposable asserts/equity are worth well over 10 times the value of the mortgages, that's why I would have (or perhaps actually have) ignored letters from lenders on this subject.I'm not saying that everyone will be in teh same position, but many will easily be able to pay off the mortgage, after 25 years of it deflating.

Have to admit, after casually browsing and partaking a bit today on the other thread, I quickly came to the very same conclusion.

May be wrong, but would be hard pressed to find two like minded, such "out there" personalities with the same writing style and desperate need for attention!
