The table and chairs went for £36.50. Paid £125 for them 2 years ago. Fab condition the buyer agreed they'd got a bargain. However no room for them so anything we could get is good, they would've gone to charity otherwise. Shame about the coffee table but will give it another week before it goes to charity.
Dining room is done thank goodness. Just a few odds and ends to pick up as and when. Makes the living room look rubbish but that's a job for another day. The garden is next on the list. It's never ending.
Should be ok next week at work as the director I'm PA to will be on leave. So I'll just be settling in with my new team until she's back. She's really nice and is desperate for me to startOther people I've spoken to have said they're a really nice bunch where I'm going.
Spend day today as went to Lidl for the grabber sticks - bought two as were only £3.99 each. Then bought two enormous blocks of cheese for £2.39 each. Gave the dog a good street walk too as is a couple of miles each way.
Here's to a fab week folksI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Forgot to say did home insurance renewal today. Went through Money supermarket and got it for £94 for the year, buildings and contents as opposed to renewal quote from present insurer of £117. Not a lot of savings but savings anyway. Happy with thisI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

First day done
Went well. Everyone is really nice and I had plenty to do for a first day. Obviously it feels really strange but I'm sure I'll be settled in very soon.
I've been keeping a proper track of spending for the past two weeks, whether good or bad, and the upshot is I've overspent by a lot. Still money in the pot but not as much as there should be and with two weeks left until new budget starts. However, in my defence, I've had quite a few extra expenses - hairdressers, leaving do, DGS's birthday, had to pay Lotto subs for the rest of the year to stay in syndicate with my old team and some extra house bits. Going to try and be frugal for the next two weeks but have lunch with retired friends on Wednesday and then it's bank holiday so might be tricky to say the least.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
