I’ve had a nice day off. I’ve got a few recommendations for the bedroom including a couple of local companies who do the whole thing eg plastering, electrical, flooring which would be great. Just need to get a few quotes now. The dog has been out numerous times and is now fast asleep in her bed. I’ve also done some cleaning and lots of Spanish learning. One annoying thing, Mr SA rang his sister to ask if she knew anyone who did fitted bedrooms and she said never mind that get a downstairs toilet put in 🙄🥱I wish he wouldn’t tell her everything we’re doing. She was the one who said we paid too much for the windows/door. She hasn’t got a clue about prices, does everything on the cheap and is constantly replacing everything as a result.Having a stir fry for tonight’s dinner, Mr SA is having fish, chips and mushy peas. Looking forward to putting my feet up with a G&T and TV tonight 🍹I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
I'm laughing too at the instant mash punishment. It's a good idea to work out indicative costs of bedroom refurbishment - at least then you will know what you are aiming for with your savings goals.4

Earlier today there was a loud scuffle type noise that appeared to be around our fireplace area. Now the cat is constantly looking at the fireplace. I wonder if a wood pigeon has fallen down the chimney. Wouldn’t surprise me as they are loads of them and they’re always on the roof. I can’t hear anything but the cat keeps hanging around it. We never use the gas fire as since we had the new central heating system it’s never been that cold in there.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Some good news in that where I work the pay and contract reform has been accepted by union members and we will get a decent pay rise back dated to last summer in next month’s pay 🥳🥂 It was a really good deal so would’ve been disappointed if it was a no.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)9

That's good news SA , we have had our pay offer accepted by our union members as well .We weren't expecting a pay rise either so we have had a % offer and a lump sum payment so happy days for March payday. Think a glass of something is in order tonight.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.9

Well done to you both on the pay awards.
The feel good factor of having your bedroom done would be amazing, that would spur you on to save and you can pay it when you’ve saved enough. You spend a lot of time at home so might as well make it as nice and as relaxing as possible.....that’s my thought s anyway.
So annoying about Mr SA consulting his sister about everything.January spends - £587.588 -
As a pensioner I get a whole £4.00 a week extra. The rise in council tax will be more than that.

Fortunately I do have a small NHS pension but the general opinion seems to be all pensioners now are well off and it simply isnt true. Yes some are but many more are not. I do have major regrets that we didnt prepare better but I cant change it now and in many ways we are better off than we were in that other than a bank loan we have no debts and we dont have a mortgage. I do learn eventually shame it took so long.I think you will be in a better position finacially from what you say but you also have Mr SA.7
