Offline NT Password & Registry Editor; download and burn to a CD or USB Flash drive; boot from it.
Takes a bit of courage!

As an aside if your friend is in to bridge if they have a chance the "bridge v+" available on android is brilliant. I play it on a 5in phone and also on a 10in tablet, free for the ads version but only a few pounds for ads free version.0

As suggested; Chntpw (also known as Offline NT Password & Registry Editor) is what you need. No need to waste bandwidth on Hiren's...0

A W10 machine, yes, it will give problems, but works fine on W7...it's one of those things that's invaluable in my IT toolkit......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
