Seller is outside of EU

So for the future - should seller provide any information about their location? What should I do to verify it?
If they're not particularly forthcoming in the "Contact Us" section you should have a look around the terms and conditions. That usually gives an indication of where they're based.
In the case of Gearbest their T&Cs page says "All transactions on Gearbest.com are processed by TJ198 Network Technology Limited which is located in Hongkong."
It also says "Shipping and delivery times are calculated in working days from Monday to Friday. In the case of major holidays such as Christmas and the Chinese Lunar New Year, please allow extra delivery time."
I can't imagine many UK businesses take time off for the Chinese Lunar New Year.0 -
Warning about duties and taxes not included in prices is valid - shipping from EU to North America will attract duties and taxes too.
Could you please enlighten me where are those signs that site is not in EU?
Can I reverse this and ask you what made you think it WAS in the EU?
It’s a .com. Prices aren’t in GBP as you initially stated. The English is pretty Wonky.
I’m just interested in what made you assume it was?0 -

OP, it's always in your interests to ascertain the location of a seller, if only to check how problems are going to be solved should they arise.0

The easiest way to tell where a company is based is to look for their registered address - every UK and EU company is required by law to include this on their website, along with their company number where applicable.
I wouldn't buy from any site that doesn't include a physical address for the company.0 -
On the contact us pages the phone number is a big clue.
You must have gone to the uk.gearbest.com site or been directed to it.0
