Nissan car recall scam

  • I think the OP has had a bad experience and then also put 2 and 2 together and made 73.

Car recalls happen on most cars (I have an outstanding one on my Merc which is for an issue with airbags also due to a potential wiring fault that can emerge over time). There is no data protection issue, the manufacturers are required to contact all owners where they have an issue.

If you are bothered by being forced to have a safety recall, perhaps you are also the sort of person who isn't bothered by their house burning down because a Whirlpool drier might burst into flames because it is just too much hassle.

Deep breath, a safety recall is not a scam. Although manufacturers do have some parts traceability, they will be recalling between a certain date range as they do not know the exact part that went onto each car. That being said, salesmen are salesmen and if someone is on their patch, they are going to try and sell.

I suggest that if you do feel hassled, check if there is anyone else in the showroom and if there is just say very loudly "Why would I want to buy another Nissan, I've had nothing but hassle with this one? Leave me alone" and see how quickly they run away.

If she has a Note, they are recalling them AGAIN  to swap the passenger airbag inflator for one that won't fill the cabin with a hailstorm of shrapnel if it deploys.

It is about time Renault Nee-san started paying me for the petrol money and the time I have wasted sitting around whilst they rectify the dangerous results of their shoddy build and bargain bucket parts. :(
No reason you can't ask them to meet your costs. After all, they charge out their mechanics' time at far above what the mechanics are actually paid.
