Smartphone and/or Camera?
Options
My partner currently has an old phone that makes calls and texts but no internet or camera. She has a separate point and shoot type camera about 8 years old which is OK but no doubt cameras have moved on.
She is now looking to get a smart phone. Some of her friends have suggested spending £350 or so on an iphone and use it as a camera as well.
I've got a spare Moto G4 (2nd gen) that I can give her which has a middling and rather fiddly camera. I've suggested that she uses that as her new phone and buys a new camera for £100ish - she's got no problem with having two separate items. Am I right in thinking that for that money you could get a camera that is at least equal to an iphone's?
What do you think she should do?

Any decent standalone camera is going to be better, just look at the size of the lens on a phone. It depends on how important photography is to her.0

You need to consider whether she will actually carry both items. Any camera is no use if it's sitting at home. I suggest a smartphone is more likely to be on your person.0

indeed them phone camera's are only in theory ever so many pixels, but as ever only one part of 3 main components of good picture taking, hence my ancient 4MP Kodak is making way better pictures than my Nokia 13MP phone, with 1/3 sized image size, due to lens, Sensor quality ISO etc.
If anything, if MUST look out for a phone with Sony Exmor IMX378 (CMOS 1200 +) sensor, most likely, they'll have decent lenses too, pictures would be half decent- OK.
However suggestion of needing to spend £350 is silly. IE Xiaomi Mi 5s for photo taking purposes simply outperform iPhones by a country mile.
