Hi

I just successfully(or so I thought) renewed my license using my passport photo. However I just noticed I am not wearing my glasses in the photo, even though I wear my glasses all the time. Is this an issue or not? I cannot find any specific information :s

Thanks

When I went to a photo booth recently for passport / driving licence photos, the instructions said to remove glasses.

Your driving licence says if you need to wear "eyesight correction" for driving - code 101 after the categories.

I'm pretty sure the rules for driving license photos are the me passport photos, which prohibits the wearing of glasses. My photocard licence uses the electronically stored image from my passport.

The code for eyesight correction is actually 01 (not 101 - that means not for hire or reward). My licence has no such code. (It does have the 101 code against minibuses D1, and minibus + trailer D1E.)

I’ve still got a green licence - I didn’t realise the new ones show a code for wearing glasses.

How do they know? Do you now have to inform DVLA if you wear glasses?

You're right, northwalesd - 01. Mine has it on because I wore them on my test.

I had no idea about these codes. I see 02 is 'hearing/communication aid'.

I was not aware that you had to be able to hear in order to drive.

So did I, but no code. I've worn glasses since I was 11 in the early '70s.

You would have been asked about eyesight on your licence application.

I only found out I needed glasses on my mock test (Instructor: "Have we done the eyesight test yet? Read that plate... Oh. Right. You've got a week to get an eyetest done and get glasses..."), with my real test date booked.

And I would have answered yes, it's not as if i try to hide I'm short sighted.
