hi
my place of work is requesting that i bring in my marriage certificate even thou nothing has changed apart from my marriage status . They say it a legal requirement that i do so , not that i can find anywhere online that says so.
The only reason they knew i was getting married was because i had to ask if i was able to just do my contracted hours on my last day before i was on leave for the wedding
please can anyone offer any help
thank you

Did you change your surname on marriage? If so then they probably want proof before they change any details they hold.0

Any reason why you don't want too?
Best place to ask is the Employment board, they may know why.

Actually the best person to ask is your employer. They will be the only ones to give the reason why they want it. Any suggestions on here are purely guesswork basedonno information.0

If you do have to give them your marriage certificate, you don't have to use the one from the wedding day - buy another one for times like this.0 -
Ask them, not just a useless vague "legal requirement" statement, but which section of which act imposes that requirement on you to provide it to them.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230

My work asked for it too and I refused as the marriage certificate gives details of parents and witnesses which is nothing to do with them.0

If there is a pension scheme then it is possible that they want your husband's details because he could be a beneficiary.0
