In such circumstances, I always give my Prolific e-mail address, on the basis that if I start doing studies for people outside the Prolific platform I have no protection if they do not pay up!

According to the guidelines for researchers, they are not supposed to ask for any personally identifying data, such as email addresses, so strictly speaking they should only ask for your Prolific email address, if they ask at all.

I had a rejection for attention checks earlier today. When I queried this the researcher said it was a question towards the end asking to recall which one of 4 options was not present several screens earlier.
I responded that Prolific's policy is that attention check can't be based on recall. I also pointed out that as the study was over 5 minutes long 2 failed attention checks are required to reject.
Within a few minutes the researcher changed the outcome and paid the survey.
If you get a rejection make sure it's fair and meets the policy.

Forecasting the Future of Our Planet: Your Predictions Needed Copy
By Zach Jacobs£30.71 • £17.28/hr106 mins369 placesThis survey is about predicting future risks to humanity, such as climate change, nuclear war, artificial intelligence, and bioweapons. We want to know what you think the likelihood of these risks occurring in the next 100 years is. Your opinions can help us understand and prepare for these potential threats, and will help us better understand the public's perception of these events and how they compare to expert opinions.
We expect the survey, which consists of roughly 20 complex forecasting questions, each with multiple parts. We expect the survey to take roughly 3 hours and 15 minutes to complete.
I had some free time this afternoon and so logged onto Prolific to see what I was missing and this one was waiting. I was a little reluctant to try to access the study as the time projections offered were a touch long for me usually.
However I threw caution to the wind because I felt I could not let £30.71 slip away and managed to get a place.
Well I honestly never realised I could pull so much rubbish out of my mind when required and I even completed the study in around 90mins which included cooking a chicken curry for me and the wife and feeding the cat at the same time.
The good part was that the payment was instant after completion so I cant argue with that.
If it pops up, give it a go as time flies quite quickly and you wont regret it.

I got that one too yupiteru. It said it would take 3 hours 15 minutes when I started it but it took me about 2 hours. The payout was worth it and was quite surprised it was paid instantly too.1

Rating stereotypes in answers from an AI agent
By Language Experiments£11.25 • £13.41/hr50 mins0 placesWe have given various creativity tasks to AI agents and we would like you to rate answers based on the stereotypes or other harms they may contain.
Due to temporary work changes (involving more money!) and some domestic changes, I have not had much time for Prolific so far this year, but I have been completing the odd study to keep my account active, as anecdotally Prolific appear to not be keen on dormant accounts.
When I logged on for a peek yesterday, this one was available and I managed to secure a place even though it was a bit long to fit my present criteria, I thought I could get an extra portion of onion bajhis and boti kebab with the reward for Easter to compliment my chicken madras and special rice and bottle of rioja.
However after I had rated six tasks, I was disconnected from the server even though I had not been inactive for more than ten minutes.
A pop-up advised of the disconnection and recommend that I refresh the page to reconnect, however even though I attempted this a number of times I could not reconnect, so I had to close the window and start all over again, aargh!
This time it all went swimmingly and I completed the thirty ratings without incident but because of the extra six it seemed to take forever!
I did contact the researcher and advise of the problem but heard nothing back as expected.
Just my luck and hopefully I will have more luck with the next study towards the end of the week.
Merry Easter to all in advance, if I don't have time to post before the weekend
I completed the survey with a NOCODE on Prolific and messaged them about the issue, and have also messaged the researcher - I hope I get paid for this one as it was a massive waste of nearly an hour of my time otherwise!0 -
And as a very swift update, the researcher has already got back to me to confirm they can see my responses and I'll be compensated. Phew!0
