allison445, I really don't think it is you who needs to worry about feeling stupid:  To think, these people are actual university students... Eek!  When are they going to invent a degree in common sense?  Or actually pay us for beta-testing their appallingly badly thought out studies?

Thought I should update in the interests of fairness: The Rey figure study issue is now resolved, apology and outstanding payment received.   :)

The head motion survey has just been approved with an increased reward of £1.54 so the full payment was £5.54 doesn't seem enough for over an hours work

"Business proposal" study with attention question stating "choose the colour purple as an answer".  I clicked on "purple" but it insisted I had given the wrong answer.  There were two versions of this study, so having returned one I tried the other to see if they had fixed the problem.  Still the same.  I did stare at it for a while to see if one of the answers was in purple ink, but I can't figure out if it was a trick question or they had just got the coding wrong.  One version paid more than the other - maybe this is the test?  Or maybe they thought everyone was returning it because they wanted more money!

I wonder if it actually said "must NOT choose..."  I work with content designers who tell us people often eye-skip over the word "not".  I really thought I was paying attention!

I had the same issue. I read the instructions several times and have messaged the researcher. Maybe I did read it wrong but I returned it anyway.

I had the exact same issue and also tried both surveys with the same problem on both - I too have reported it to the researchers, its annoyed me because thats 2 "returned" studies on my stats.

Returned studies don't penalise you in any way.  I've got 45 (out of 645) on my account.  It's the rejections you need to avoid!

On the 'colour purple' issue the researcher has now messaged me. They've said they have now checked all options and the survey appears to work now. They asked me to try doing it again and then they'd approve payment for me but I've had to explain that I had to return it.

The standard of studies is definitely going in the wrong direction, methinks.  The adjustments for underpaying studies appear to be legion, for a start and the head motion researcher refuses to give his/her superior's contact details when most studies offer these at the outset in case of queries.  Very mature.
