littlesheepy said:Good morning. I've just had my first Prolific rejection email. "I cannot find any data associated with your Prolific ID in my dataset". Can I/should I contest this? It was quite a long study which I put a lot of effort into and nothing seemingly went wrong with it. I got the proper completion message and finishing code. Any ideas or suggestions please?1

Assuming this was a error, I continued; but it took over 20 minutes - in fact, it took me about 26 minutes.A new study has now been posted, "Please attend to this longitudinal survey" hosted by L H, £1 for 10 minutes. On starting, it became very quickly apparent that it was a second round of the same survey as mentioned above, and the first page this time said it would take 25 minutes. So it appears the researcher has just re-registered using a different name and is doing the same thing again.I stopped without completing and explained this situation in the feedback box. I hope they will take more decisive action this time. As they have been in contact with the researcher regarding the first study, the fact they've just changed their name and repeated the offence seems pretty clear evidence of a deliberate intent to deceive.I have heard back from Prolific about this one, as follows:-/Quote starts/Thank you very much for reporting this issue. Unfortunately, it looks like the researcher has underestimated their study's completion time, and it has fallen below the minimum payment rate that we ask all researchers to adhere to.This researcher initially ran an underpaying study, for which we contacted them and placed their account on hold. They then proceeded to run the follow-up via another account, which, thanks to alerts from participants, we were able to pause partway through and place the second account on hold also.We are in contact with the researcher asking them to award bonus payments to all valid submissions. If they fail to comply fully with this request, wi will place a permanent ban on the researcher's account. We strongly endorse the principles of ethical and fair rewards on Prolific, so appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Please let us know if you encounter any similar issues in future./Quote ends/4

Yes, "underestimated" as in he put one completion time on the study page on Prolific, then when you clicked through he'd put a completion time on the study start page which was about 2 1/2 time longer than the one on Prolific!
I doubt we'll see any bonus payment as it was a while ago now. And the bonus payment that Prolific got him to pay after the first time was only 20p so didn't even come close to the amount which would have been appropriate for the study length.

I'd have been inclined to ban him anyway, but I suppose Prolific need something to hold over his head to try to get him to pay us fairly. Although I don't hold out much hope of that. Also not sure how they're going to stop him if he tries to open another account and do the same thing again.

I just received an email notification of a mystery bonus of 13p. It's definitely been added to my balance, but I've looked through my submissions all the way back to January, and I can't see a bonus payment of 13p anywhere amongst them, nor do any of the researcher's names match the one that apparently paid me the bonus. Has anyone else had anything like this? It's a bit of a puzzle.
