Perhaps they wanted to see if the music they face you impacted the pictures you'd buy?

Study on effectiveness of different types of political slogans.
    Hosted by Martin Paul Fritze
    £0.755 minutes £9.00/hr 27 places remaining

Dont know if its just me doing something wrong but it wouldnt accept my prolific number. Messaged researcher.

It wouldn't accept my prolific number either so I've sent the researcher a message.

Has anyone had problem doing Cognitive experiment test duration 1h 30 min? I had to return it after spending 45 min. as it stuck on fase 6 colour test!

I got through the whole of that one in about 45 minutes, which was very pleasing for £10. No problems along the way.

I contacted the researcher explaining of what happened and she said she is going to compensate me anyway. Lets wait and see if she sticks to her promise...:(

Update: The researcher has fully compensated me rewarding me with £10! I wish every researcher on Prolific was like her!

Had one today that was meant to be a music study, asks you to download and play an mp3 & answer questions on it, but the rest of the survey is about buying paintings:huh:

That music was so awful I did not want to spend long on that survey! Some of the paintings were quite peaceful and some more colourful. The music I had was very upbeat and I did wonder if they were trying to see if it motivated what are you would be drawn to.

Quite a few surveys today (frustratingly coming in pairs) although one of them asked me how much of my fee I'd like to donate to their homelessness charity. As always none, I'll make any donation decisions in an unpressured manner thank you.

No response from Prolific on the one that said I'd screened out, nor approval or rejection from the researcher. Also heard nothing from the one that I completed off Prolific, after their compatibility cockup.

The surveys that ask about donating your fee to charity are usually just looking at what your answer would be, rather than actually making a donation. Yesterday I was asked whether I wanted to donate to a charity helping homeless children in the US and the UK; I was certain there was no such charity, and indeed at the end they said it had been a test question, since the survey had focussed on emotions and they wanted to see whether people answered it differently depending on the emotion they had been asked to feel.
  • Interesting article here by Prolific about how they select participants for studies:

Shows that they're now giving priority to newbies at the expense of us regulars, and are trying to discourage 'professional survey takers'
