    Sorry but no way do i trust EAs to provide value for money, its the nature of the business. They have to compete, the whole process is ugly.
    Hardly surprising, given 'online' sales sites barely existed 10 years ago. Yet, still account for only 6% of the market.

    Well i hope for more. Hopefully 90% in 10 years with any luck.

    Being a little shady or not completely upfront (however you want to put it) has decent rewards for EAs so is sometimes needed to compete. So rather than regulation i vote evolution and cut middleman much as possible.

    The online agencies have realised that a solely online offering is not what the public want, and the growth at the moment seems to be in 'hybrid' agencies, where the central office or website takes in enquiries and leads, and hands them off to "local property experts" who then function in much the same manner as the traditional EA. Given a few more years, and you may well find these LPEs opening offices on the high street for the convenience of their customers, viewers and buyers.

    Contrast this with the traditional EA who started with the office on the high street, and has moved into an online presence with the help of Rightmove, Zoopla, etc. ...
    Well i hope for more. Hopefully 90% in 10 years with any luck.

    Not the remotest chance.

    There is certainly a place in the market for 'online' sales agents, or 'pay upfront agents' being a more accurate description. Their market share will undoubtedly increase from the current level, but is unlikely to account for much more than 15-20% for the foreseeable future.

    Will be interesting to see what happens with their fee model as well, not sure any of these companies make a profit currently.

    Some areas of business are more susceptible to shady activity or low standards vs others.
    Not the remotest chance.
