This is actually 2016 model and most high street stores no longer sell it but John Lewis must have loads left as they are still trying to push as many out as they can before it gets removed from stock as too old.
Yes, reading the reviews on the John Lewis website it looks like it's not the "bargain" it purports to be. Although the model supports 3D, the glasses required are no longer available! There is also a complaint that BBC iPlayer is no longer available via the TV's SMART function.

There also seems to be a problem with viewing from certain angles other than face-on. I wonder was this the fault which the OP complained about?

Interesting that the seller replaced the Motherboard of the TV after only four months use rather than simply swapping it out with another TV. This does suggest an inherent fault.

All of this doesn't help with the OP's problem twelve months on from purchase, but it's certainly warned me off this model however much John Lewis want to discount it in future...
  • Hi all. Sorry for not replying sooner. I was IP banned from the forum when I was trying to attach an image with the timeline of this mess.

The issue with flickering is to do with the backlight switching between two brightness levels.

I paid for it by my credit card so I'll look into that option.

    The retailer is John Lewis.

Off angle viewing always drops in quality due to the vertically aligned panels used. Oled is the only one that retains quality off angle.

Fluffybunny what model are you referring to?

I'm going to ask them for a full refund due to them not being able to offer me a like for like replacement and see what they say I think.

The same model mentioned by you and linked to by someone else earlier in the thread. As mentioned, the Panasonic 58DX802B is a 2016 model which JL are still flogging today. Of course, you bought it a year ago when 2016 had only ended the month before.

I was only going by what was said in reviews of the product and you didn't say specifically what was wrong with your set.

I still find it remarkable that JL didn't simply swap out the TV for a new one at the 4 month mark.

I didn't even think about that. To be honest the number of engineers they've had look it probably exceeds the cost of the TV anyway.
