animated avatars

Hi All,
Why doesnt my avatar animate ?
It is a GIF and i have seen other users with animated avatars ..


What gives ? Anyone ?

If the forum has to resize it, then the scripts that do that in vBulletin forum software only take the 1st frame of a gif.

If you want it not to do that, then the supplied avatar must fall within the allowed defaults

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 14.9 KB (whichever is smaller)

Not tested it lately, but used to work if you gif conformed to that.

And thanks for the resize , but it was still a bit too big - Ill have a go now i know the issue

I suspected that! If you take it onto the gif re-sizing site you have options to remove frames and scale down the amount of colours, all of which reduce the file size.

This one worked when I swapped it for mine...



When I swapped that one for my one the forum actually said upload failed, but there are a million glitches at the moment so I thought I would check to see if it did really fail...and it hadn't failed, it worked.

So if you upload it, check it, don't believe what the forum tells you!
