Apple App Store update and Apps no longer work.

I am not sure if this is the correct place for this as it is my first post. I hope it is.
My question/problem etc is that since Apple updated their iOS operating system from 10 to 11, certain apps no longer work. One of these app is called "Eisenbahnatlas". It was set up by a German book company called Schweers Wall but to was being allowed on the UK app store should mean that this is not a problem with UK consumer Law. Anyway back to the question.
I purchased 3 in-app Maps which cost a total of £60.97. Now due to no fault of my own, with Apple updating their iOS, Schweers Wall have not updated their app so I can no longer use these maps or even get onto the App. This means that I am therefore £60.97 out of pocket. I have tried to contact Schweers Wall but they never answer. So I contacted Apple. They told me to update my app and iOS. Even though I had told them it was due to the iOS update. So I went back to Apple to tell them that I had already told them that it was due to the update and therefore that was why the app no longer works. Again I asked for a refund of £60.97. All they did was told me to read the refund policy. No sorry we updated our system that renders apps unusable. No sorry you are out of pocket by such a large amount. I replied "Will seriously have to think about my loyalties next time I pay anything from Apple."
And their reply was .... well I have never seen such sarcasm from a customer service department in my life. "I see that you have some suggestion about our services.
We recognize that no one is better qualified to provide feedback about our products and services than the people who use them. I urge you to submit any feedback you have about our services and policy at our Feedback page:"
So anyway do you think I have a case or have I realistically lost my £60? I suspect I have lost it but?

It’s not Apples fault that the developers of the app chose to not update it to make it compatible with the new IOS, and it’s not the developers fault that Apple changed IOS so that the app would no longer work, when they developed the app they knew full well that there would be updates and should have prepared for it.
It’s also neither of their faults that you chose to install the optional IOS update, you didn’t have to and could have remained on IOS 10 until the app was made compatible.
You had a device on IOS 10, you purchased an app and extras to work on IOS 10, they worked as they were supposed to. You then chose to update to IOS 11 where it no longer works, unless either Apple or the developer promised that it would work with 11 then I can’t see how you would have any comeback against either.0 -

But it is the app developers fault, not Apples.
When did you purchase the in-app maps?Dwy galon, un dyhead,

You state that I should not have updated to iOS11. Then if I didn't my phone would not have the latest safety requirements. Apps should therefore be made future proof.
And ok the in apps were purchased a year ago but still not my fault that the app no longer work.Regards Keith0 -

Yes Apps shouldbe future proof but some developers may decide against continuing to improve their apps, this could be for one of many reasons:
Low sales
Better competition
Not financially worthwhile continuing
Whatever the reason it is not Apple's fault.Dwy galon, un dyhead,

As much as I dislike Apple they have done nothing wrong here.
An app can't be future proofed if the developer doesnt know what the future is.0 -
Not Apples fault? They updated the iOS and other Apps no longer work? So to me that is Apples fault. And I am over £60 out of pocket. Just have to remember in future that I am never to make an in app purchase. The worst thing is that I have never been able to have the opportunity to actually download the maps to enable them to be used "offline".Regards Keith0

I am struggling to put this in a way that makes the obvious clear....
The app developer have to update their app to enable it to work on iOS 11. They own the app, they control it & they fix it, Apple do not.Dwy galon, un dyhead,

You didn't have to update, and you get a warning that some apps may not work if you do
Ive still got flappy birds on mine and if I update it wont work0 -

Then you're wrong. It's the APP developer's responsibility to ensure apps work with OS updates, not Apple's.
And do you really think they'll be bothered about a "I'll vote with my feet" message? Not. A. Chance.0
