Cancelling BT Line + Broadband

Hi, Just hoping someone can have some other ideas after me speaking to BT I need to cancel my BT and Broadband lines due to moving abroad.
Problem is due to me taking the contracts out in June they have a hefty cancellation fee.
The broadband still has 13 months left on the contract and the BT Line costs £70 (which I'm not so worried about).
Problem is the broadband is going to be over £300 to cancel.
I've been with BT for a long time (many years) but due to renewing this contract and my situation has changed this has now occurred.
The guy said possibly downgrading to option 1 from 3 might make it slightly cheaper or alternatively moving it to a family member and getting them to cancel their phone + broadband if its out of contract may help the problem slightly.
I wasn't angry at the guy as he was only doing what he could to help but I always thought there would be a cancellation of maybe 3-4 months pay out of the broadband and not the entire contract time which seems crazy to me.
Anyway the total will be around £440 after all fees for both the line and the broadband.
Thanks

There is no way around it, you agreed to the contract therefore you've agreed to the terms & conditions of the use. You'll either have to pay the money to get out (£70 cancellation charge) or grin & bear the rest of the contract0
