Is it possible that cataract ops are not offered automatically but if someone contacts PALS or asks for a second opinion or contacts their MP to explain how badly their quality of life will be affected then an op might be considered?
Library volunteering this afternoon so having a quiet morning trying to sort out the burnt casserole potand putting away the laundry etc.
Nice to see tru and sorry scampi was so agitated by the vet's visit.

Well I haven't passed GO yet since my earlier post! Just after logging off a big Police van pulled up outside and my heart was pounding as I thought they were coming here! But no they went round the corner and still haven't come back to their big van an hour or so later. So I am now on neighbourhood watch wanting to know what's going on! Like HOLLY this was a quiet village once of a day but now we are forever seeing police cars about. Sadly that's the world we live in these days. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. Morning all,
I've been a bit absent lately. Monday I was in London for work and yesterday I was in Wigan and back to the gym and work this morning. I'm also working late tonight and tomorrow night - so on Friday I'll be a zombie.
Because of work, I've nothing much to report.
Hope everyone stays dry and upright with the weather
Have a nice day.0 -
Morning all,
Hester rediculous rules set down by the hospital. Dont they realize that you would be a drain on resources if you go totally blind and need care in the community? I should imagine most of the people with cataracts are over 60 anyway so that rules out most of the elderly population.... Silly, just silly.
Need to sort the recycling today, Youngest bought a new telly the weekend and as usual, it came with masses of packaging. I'm waiting for a break in the rain as its chucking down.
Tru when 'The Blonde One' left home we turned her bedroom into a home office. Well i waited for 6 months first to see that she was settled before we took her room apart. I also have plans for Youngests' bedroom but he's in no rush to move out which is fine as he isnt ready anyway.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning all.
When I woke at 5am there was no power at all. Phoned the hydro board, stayed in bed for a couple more hours and then washed in cold water, dressed by torch light and came into the office.
After being fortified by a bacon roll and hot coffee from the garage I was teaching. Now off to Glasgow, no point staying home as power won’t be on until about 1pm.
Hope everyone is doing better. Happy Wednesday.0 -
Hester are you sure they don't do Cataract ops on those over 60?
As Judi says if you go blind you will cost the powers that be far more and also most cataract ops are done on the over 60 as it tends to be an age related problem! My mother had two ops in her early 70's!
I would be going back and insisting if I were you. That is utterly ridiculous!
Sorry I've been AWOL I've been struck done with a nasty virus/flu symptoms. I'm on the mend now thankfully but still suffering.
Hope you are all ok and hugs and strength to anyone in need x'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Good morning lovelies
Late one again today but I have been up doing some housey stuff. Washing machine is chugging away with the second lot ...bedding  my horror job
Yesterday was mum day and boy was she on 'good' form. I can safely say I have never met anyone so negative in my whole life how on earth she produced me I have no idea ...must have been more dad that influenced me when I was growing up as he was always positive and smiled loads. Example I took her lots of food for her freezer including some banana loaf.. her response "oh I much prefer brownies"I try to just smile sweetly but boy its hard
Her phone has arrived so I'm setting it up for her here first and doing a little "How To..." notebook for her ...I honestly don't know why I bother as she had totally decided yesterday that she wont be able to use it
Anyway the bonus of my dreaded day is I really appreciate the day after when its a whole 6 days before the next one IYSWIM :rotfl:
Food today will be a lamb burger for dinner and a dippy egg for lunch
Hester please try to get a referral to another hospital in anotherTrust you have every right to go wherever you choose to ..I know this as I am off on my travels to get my hip done as my local hospital has cancelled all non emergency surgery and has an 18 month waiting list compared to a 12 week at the specialist hospital in another town. Do you have a eye hospital anywhere reasonably local? I doubt they would have such a stupid rule this post code lottery is just shocking

Have a good day all (its just taken me 2 hours to finish that post lol)0 -

The banana loaf sounds lovely and don't let it get you down. Has she always been like this or is very old age having an effect on her?
After burning the cast iron pot yesterday I am still steeping it
Decided it is a waste to only use my actfry for chips, roast potatoes etc while it takes up space on the worktop so have ordered a special recipe book so I can make meals without having to hover over the cooker all the time.
With all the nasty viruses around I have ordered a new aromatherapy burner and some burglar's blend essential oil. Even if it does not ward off the germs it won't do any harm and will make the house smell nice.

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Out to Aldi before 9am, home and unpacked shopping and put away managed to spend £51.00.
The baked cod I did last night was delicious, I made a topping with breadcrumbs, parsley and pepper, just coated the top of the fillets with a thin film of oil and then pressed the topping into the top. Baked in the oven 200c for 15 minutes, yummy.
Afraid we are not doing so well here, since I got back OH has developed another heavy vertigo attack, nothing I can do, but have contacted the Drs and requested yet another visit. I feel like screaming.............
No idea about lunch or supper, I have sausage out, yes there is salt in them, but once a month as a treat....he does so love sausage and mash.
Weather is awful, several bits of the road were flooded, lots of water in pools too.......I noticed as I was coming very gingerly down the hill where I skidded the other week that another car had been through the hedge, about 6 foot of the hegde was flattened. They really need to do something about that piece of road before someone gets killed.
Hester, I had one of my cateracts done at 72, OH is 85 this year and they are hoping to do his........ask to be referred to somewhere else that will do them, why should you have to loose your sight because of a stupid rule........0 -

Oh yes.
I do have a DH who says what he thinks,(dementia doesn't make him very pc). Yesterday when mother was being 'unpleasant' he looked at her and said 'you're ugly'. Don't know if he meant not nice but it did stop her.
I would be so grateful if some-one gave me a helping hand, why are they so mean?If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0
