Different to the usual selection box! The display in the picture cost me around £10, but obviously use a smaller plant pot, and less sweets/cheaper sweets and it can come in at £5.
Basically bought a plant pot (traditionally done in Popcorn boxes - but personally dont think it would have the stability at the base hence the plantpot, filled it with dried oasis (50p?), sellotaped my sweets to some long BBQ type skewers (Tip: bought selection boxes, 3for £5 in woolworths - made it cheaper than buying individually) and taped some ribbon to skewers and hid the skewers by placing things carefully.
Got great reviews from people ! (It wasnt for xmas, but would be a nice gift!)

Name of present? Personal Gold / Platinum Disk
Make it or buy it? Make it
Total Cost? £1-£5
Details?
Find an old, useless record (one that's been scratched to pieces and can't be used), spray it gold and make a new paper label for the centre with a picture or name of the recipient.
Ideally, mount the finished disk in a frame - voila, their own gold record to hang in the study!
You can also personalise it further by saying something like "representing a record number of hugs given in support of friends", or "a million times you've helped me out".Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

Name of present? Little Christmas Tree (Real)
Do you make it or buy it? Buy it or Grow it
Total Cost? From £3
Details (the more the better)
I just wanted to tell you guys about a fantastic website which supplies Little Christmas Trees by post. This is a really good (and cheap) idea for a Christmas present for those people who you just don't know what to buy or alternatively a great stocking filler for anyone you know. We gave our 2 kids these trees about 3 years ago (from a different company), the children planted the trees in the garden themselves and both trees are now about 2 feet tall. Every Christmas we go out into the garden and decorate the trees. I can honestly say that for £3 each, this is the best and most cherished present I have ever given.
The website: www.thelittlechristmastreecompany.co.uk
Many thanks for the link. I have just ordered some trees for my grown-up sons and their families. A great idea for a Christmas present! ThanksKNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

present? Salt Dough Characters
Make it or buy it? Make it
Total Cost? less than £1.00
Details? Make up some salt dough using flour (can even be out of date and cheaper the better in true money saving style), salt, oil and water. Then form the salt dough into characters such as fairies, pirates, buxom blondes (whatever you want to suit the receipient) or shapes such as heart plaques, house plaques etc. Bake in an oven until dry (preferably put in an oven whilst cooking dinner etc to save on fuel costs) and then allow to cool. Once cool paint your work of art with left over paints etc (any sort of paint works and if you are doing a girly design why not try mixing a small amount of glitter into the paint for a sparkly finish?). Voila a handmade item suitable for any age and made with love.
Kids can also make these salt dough characters and have great fun and cheap entertainment at the same time.
If using as a plaque or wallhanging stick a small loop of ribbon or string into the back of your creation before baking it.OCT 06 £7500K DEBT - OCT 2007 DEBT FREE :j
