Hole in UGG boots after 13 months

Hi everyone..... first time post and after some advice.
My husband bought me a pair of classic UGG boots for Christmas 2016 (online from surfdome). So I have been wearing them around 13 months. Today I discovered a hole in the toe area of the left boot. I have had a couple of pairs of UGGs in the past and they both lasted absolutely ages with no holes whatsoever.. I have a pair about 6 years old still fine! So I'm pretty disappointed with the durability and quality of the new pair, especially as the cost is high and way more than I would usually spend on boots. I had thought they were worth the money as they would last a long time. Unfortunately I am not getting anywhere with surfdome as UGGs have only a warranty for 1 year which I have just missed out on. £115 is a lot of money for only 13 months wear.
Has anyone else experienced this and have I got a leg to stand on re: replacement or refund?
Or do I just have to accept this (and never buy UGGs again!)

If you can evidence an inherent fault then the retailer will be legally obliged to repair, replace or partially refund the item (they can choose which one) along with the cost of the fault report.
You can do this by obtaining a fault report, although I'm not really sure who would commission said report for you (I'm more used to electronic items).
If you cannot evidence an inherent fault then they don't need to assist you.0 -

I would hope so, if your husband is buying you boots.0 -
This may appear a little harsh, but how can anyone expect to return footwear after having worn them for 13 months, I am all for consumer rights, and have had to excercise mine a very limited number of occasions.
You will need to prove that they were faulty, and the question remains have you worn them more than the previous ones, if you have worn them consistently being that they are only suede / sheepskin I doubt you will have a leg to stand on.
I think this site is great, but consumers also need to realise that retailers are businesses, on line clothing is now hitting up to 40% returns in ladies wear, this is a cost to the retailer, people expecting free returns etc etc ordering 4 or 5 different sizes and colours and then sending them back - this is also why so many retailers are closing.
I am all for consumer rights, but the thought of buying something that someone has bought and worn (and yes customers are doing this) is gross. Personally I would not have the audacity to return an item especially footwear after having worn them for a year.
You will have to prove without any doubt they were faulty - good luck!0 -
of course you have a 6 year old pair.
The reason being you wore the newest ones for over a year and the 2nd pair for god knows how long.0 -
I don't think the OP is wanting to return the items after a year and expecting anyone else to wear them. She is returning them because she feels they are defective. Its not like she's ordered five items and returned four, which is your other example of 'don't'. The OP used the item for a year and returned it because she feels its defective.
However, how long Uggs can be expected to last not only depends on quality of manufacture, but also frequency of useage and where worn.
Even if you could get a report, it will almost certainly bear a cost. As you've worn the boots for a year, you won't get a full refund. Ugg may still decide to not refund.
I seem to remember another similar complaint about a month ago (might be different manufacturer though). I suppose different, not so hard wearing products are being used. The only thing I think you can do is leave reviews relating your experience and not buy them again. Obviously Uggs aren't worth the price anymore. Although I have to be honest, not sure they ever were lol.0 -
Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???0

Are you sure they're they're originals?0

I wear Kiwi boots as slippers in the winter, they're similar to UGG sheepskin but from New Zealand - and cheaper.
I've managed to wear a hole in one of them where my big toe sticks up a little.0
