Hi all
I am looking to take about £2000 in dollars to New York at the end of March, what is the best way to take it without having a load of money in my pocket?
Cheers

Best is to convert it into Cuban pesos: it is very difficult for Americans to buy Cuban money at home so they are likely to pay over the odds for your currency. Alternatively you could carry some Cambodian currency, which is easy to spend throughout the USA.
Or you could explore the use of cards...0 -
It's very difficult for anyone to buy Cuban Pesos outside of Cuba.
Best way would be to use a credit card with no fees eg Halifax Clarity0 -

Regarding the clarity card - I have one. So am i right in thinking that the ONLY charges I would face if paying in full at the end of the month would be £150 per £100 drawn out of an ATM cash machine? Off to TX in FebSavings as of April 2023 Savings account - £26460.50(14474.88)Current account - £2140.24(4576.79)Total - £28600.74(19051.67) £1010 (£65pm CS/BS) £250 CS/BS/JS0

You would pay the interest on the amount you withdraw plus any local ATM charges.0 -
Other than for kicking your habit, why do you prefer the Caxton card over the various 'travel' credit cards and others such as Starling Bank, that cost nothing, give you the perfect rate and you don't need to 'preload' and then be stuck with leftover dollars?CreditCardJunkie wrote: »I would really recommend a caxton card. You preload it and the exchange rate is fair. It's a MasterCard so can be used most places. I went to Vegas 2 years ago and didn't take any cash just used this. Felt it was very secure.Evolution, not revolution0 -

I use the clarity In the US every trip, i hope i never have to pay £150 for every £100 withdrawn.
its usually about a $2 fee and then pennies interest
I may try the Cuban Pesos next trip though , seems like a good plan0 -
