No compers allowed

Strange write up in the 'audiobar' fb giveaway --

P.S. Something strange happened in this giveaway for the first time. Basically apparently some sort of people started to enter the giveaway, but noticed these were totally random and not music production related at all. Basically they find free giveaway and they share it, and they enter to everything (you can spot their FB page is full of giveaway shares only :p), so I actually rolled for the winner 3 times, cuz the first 2 times, it was people from this category (and I checked their FB to confirm) and they would probably get it and resell it in eBay/etc, but my idea is for someone that is involved in music, until Christine was picked, so congrats! And also a Special thanks to Focusrite team.

By their own admission they have broken ASA guidelines and a complaint should find against them

Promoters of prize draws must ensure that prizes are awarded in accordance with the laws of chance and, unless winners are selected by a computer process that produces verifiably random results, by an independent person, or under the supervision of an independent person.

Had you won it would you have used it? Seem a very specialist product.

I for one would have no conceivable use for one.. not even sure I understand what it does.

Ideal for anyone who needs a cue mix for performing or recording
Our compact and flexible 2-in, 4-out USB audio interface makes it easy to perform and record studio quality audio against a cue mix. Take it anywhere, connect by USB and get two natural-sounding Scarlett mic preamps, super-low latency*, MIDI I/O, four analogue outputs and the same class-leading sound quality and digital conversion as the rest of the latest Scarlett range.

    If not then why complain?

Just found this a bit of an off comment

My husband records his own music (he plays guitar) so if I had seen it, it would have one I would have entered. Just because we are on here doesn't mean we don't have other interests outside of comping.

Exactly. My sister is into photography and I'm into art, both expensive hobbies-I'm constantly on the lookout for related comps.

I'm sorry you see my comment as slightly off. I'm not suggesting for a moment that anyone who could use this shouldn't have entered.

However I've seen and run competitions when the winner has said "Great.. I'll sell it on ebay".
I'm just trying to get people to consider the competition organiser and how disappointing it must be to have someone win something which they just want to flog on... which it what the organiser seem to have perceived here.

Making a formal complaint to trading standards seems a little off to me. Surely an email to the organisers pointing out their error would be a better 1st step?

The OP didn't post the full text...Lucas seems like a nice person to me.

Yeah you read that correctly, I didn't feel like rolling 10 times to see who were going to be the 2nd places, instead I decided for everyone that participated in this giveaway to get something free. I feel nice this 2018, and you guys need to keep on learning music production, just like I do everyday, cuz it's what I love. So, simply email me, for you to get your 2nd place prize. Cheers, Lucas

I agree with Bradden, this guy seems passionate about music production and wanted his prize to go to someone who could genuinely use it, although I also understand that this is against the ASA rules or whatever.

I only enter things that either I can use or want or one of my family and friends can use or want, I don't get why people enter for things that they have no use for and that they plan just to sell on.

This is not the point. If someone enters a Free Prize Draw, it is not up to the folk running the competition to judge a winner based on their deductions as to the entrant's motives. The rules are plain, it must be a random draw. There are other types of competition where you can restrict the type of entrant and how they win, but not a free prize draw.
