I was driving on M62 this morning - there had just been an accident between those two junctions.
you were doing 28 mph over the speed limit - really you should have your licence taken off you and be forced to retake your test as you clearly don't understand how to use your pedals properly.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,0000 -
It's no good, I've had another look at the opening post & I still can't see the bit where he asked for a lecture on driving from people who know nothing about the situation.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

More to the point why were you doing 98 mph in the first place ? I come out iof London on a saturday night on the M4 quite alot and how half those idiots between Chiswick and Heathrow dont get done is beyond me. I had one come past me at Heston services in the slow lane in a BMW doing well over 3 figures recently.
Into 4 figures then?0 -

The situation was explained perfectly by the OP. If he was indeed doing 98 - and it's unlikely that the accusation is wrong - then he has no defence.
There is no possible "situation" which would excuse that speed.0 -

1. Is it worth me challenging the cameras accuracy ? as 2mph lower it would be fixed points and a fine.
2. What punishment could i be looking at ? as i have a clean license
I hate to say this again, but you currently have a clean "licence", not a clean "license". You may continue to have clean license forever but your licence probably won't be.0 -

I know the OP wants posters to agree with them but they are doing 98mph! That's all the situation I need to know...0 -
98 mph ish? Suck it up, you know the rules. Deal with it.Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience? Why? So you can argue with them?0

I know it's not guaranteed to be the case but as the OP was clocked at 98mph then there is a very good possibility that their indicated speed was somewhere in excess of 105mph and IMO the OP deserves everything coming their way.0 -
First of all given that is a variable speed limit section what was the signed speed limit?
Assuming it was 70 MPH most likely treated a Band B offence so 4 to 6 points or 7 to 28 day ban, 100% of weekly wage fine. If it was 60MPH or less you will be looking at a Band C offence so 150% weekly wage fine and 6 points or up to 56 day ban.
I'd not drive to court. If you're given 6 points and you've only had your license under 2 years you won't be able to drive as you'd get a ban under totting up. Depending on the severity of the offence the court could issue a ban instead of points as well. If you get a ban it applies immediately so you'd not be able to drive home.
Poppycock. If driving for less than 2 years, 6 points will see your licence revoked, which is done administratively by DVLA after they have been informed by the court. The OP would be able to drive until informed by DVLA that his licence has been revoked.0 -

And even then it’s not a ban as he’d revert to a provisional licence holder.0
