you know some forums have a button where you can multi-quote messages in a post very easily. how does one multi-quote here? believe it or not, but since being a member for nearly two years i still don't know how to. could someone please explain. thanks as always

When you click on the quote button you'll get something like
[*quote*=free4440273*;6584507*]
blah blah
[*/quote*]
without all the *'s of course.
the bit after the = relates to your username - in this case it's free4440273
The number after the semi-colon is the post number (The full link to your post is http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=6584507&postcount=1 but all you need is that number) - To get the number click the #1 or #x thats on the top right of your topic and copy it from the url.
I don't know an easy way to multi-quote, but I assume you just enter the username and post id/number into new quote tags.
Very bad explanation! ^.^0 -
^thanks, very kind of you. I wish MSE would attach a multi-quote buttonBLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

I find it easier if you open the reply box in a new window so you can easily copy what you need to quote (along with username etc)
No need for a button I guess it'd make life simpler :P0 -
^it would make it simpler for dimwits like myselfBLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

Quote is just a tag which wraps round text to format it in a different way, you can do what you want..somebodyelse wrote:for example put quotes inside quotes like thisBillGates wrote:or go to a 3rd level
To start a quote open it [*quote=person;postnumber(optional)] and then close it [/*quote] so to multi quote just embed quotes within others:
[*quote=person]
Some quoted text[*quote=person2]some more content in top quote
an embedded quote
[/*quote]
[/*quote]
and by removing the *'s this looks like:person wrote:Some quoted textperson2 wrote:an embedded quote0
