    Hi there,

At the moment I appreciate that all you will have is the name of the court, the claim reference, the balance of the judgement, the date and it's status (i.e default). To find out who the claimant is you have to speak to the court (there is no way around that I am afraid). Here is all of the contact information for Northampton County Court Bulk Centre (hopefully one of these numbers or email addresses should help you) - https://courttribunalfinder.service.gov.uk/courts/county-court-business-centre-ccbc I appreciate that time is of the essence, but writing to them is a last resort.

It is difficult to say what this debt could be for and without knowing what the debt is, it is impossible to make a decision about what to do. But, I will mention that if you pay a judgement in full within 1 month (28days to be on the safe side) then the CCJ will be removed from your credit file. After that, even if you pay it, it will show for 6 years from the date of judgement.

Now that a CCJ has been entered, the only way to challenge this is to file a set aside application which will cost up to £255 to apply for. This fee can be discounted if you are on certain benefits or low income but you would also need legal advice on this application and that can also cost money. And if a set aside is unsuccessful you could incur legal costs of the other side. All things to bear in mind if the judgement is for £273 and has only recently been entered. Best of luck,

.......just to add, for a setaside to be successful, you need a defense with a reasonable chance of success, in order for the setaside to be granted.

  • Managed to get through using the number BorisThompson provided, and have now established what happened.

The debt is from an unpaid parking ticket that my ex-wife managed to ignore.

When we split up I let her keep the car I bought while with her for the sake of my daughter, but never got the logbook changed (for fear of her selling it for cash).

Ultimately, this is why the CCJ was assigned to me.

Considering this, what is the likelihood that I could get this removed from my credit report?

Honestly, the punishment I go through because of her never seems to end...

If the old address is the one where the car is registered, and you still are the registered owner of the car the chance of having it set aside (and thus removed from your credit file) are virtually zero. If something of what I've said is not correct, there may be a way.
  • Had a feeling that might be the case, but will look into what options there may be.

    Thanks all for your help.

The only extremely longshot option is for them to agree to a set aside. But for that you will need to be one hell of a talker, besides offering to pay the debt in full.If they will agree, you still will have to pay 255 quid for the set aside application, but then they will file in that they agree and the entry is !!!!!!.

There really is no other avenues to explore I am sad to say. And take the car away from your wife, or put it in her name. You could potentially get a charging order against the car if you want her to prevent from selling it.

The logbook doesn't prove ownership. Can you prove the car was hers? Or prove it couldn't have been you that got the ticket?
  • I can prove it wasn't me who got the ticket and that I didn't have 'ownership' of the car at the time it was issued.

I need to know what I can potentially do to get the CCJ removed from my report.

I paid the fine in full yesterday (ex will be paying me back apparently), and the lady I spoke to from NCCBC mentioned that as long as it was done before the 9th Feb, I should be able to get it removed. She also mentioned that I could get a certificate of completion (or something like that, can't remember the term she used) to prove I had done so.

However, to pay it I had to use an extremely irritating computer controlled phone line, on which I had no option to add any details in order to get a receipt or acknowledgement.

Have sent them a message via their website but no response as yet. They certainly don't make it easy to speak to anyone there, which considering the reason most people are getting in touch with them seems a bit cruel...

What was the CCJ date then? If it was within last 30 days then it will go away as was explained in posts above. Contact the court and they will guide you through the process.

How would that stop her selling it?

Was it a private parking ticket or council?
