Whats the main reason people use credit cards?

I've used several for 0% balance transfers in the past but mostly use my Tesco one for food & fuel purchases (basically purchases that I regularly make every week/month) to get the points.0

Build up credit rating, the full balance is always cleared when statement arrives.0

Building up my credit rating.
I had one which allows free use abroad in the local currency, which is great if I ever get stuck.
