Whats the main reason people use credit cards?

Initially was to build a credit rating. I then took out more long 0% cards to help pay my dad's overdue income tax to HMRC. Now I use my £0 annual fee Amex card purely for earning Membership Rewards which I will convert to Skywards miles.0

Our credit card has been used for mixed reasons over the last couple of years . It's there for an emergency just in case .
We paid it straight off each month but recently we used it to decorate our bedroom .
I have few other bills from shops Next bensons for beds very and I have been considering paying those off with the credit card then I know they are out of the way and then it's just one bill to think about ?
Does anyone know is this worth doing ?0 -

I use mine for purchases I may not be able to pay from the current account/debit card, without lowering the interest-earning amount in the current account. Anything over the interest-earning amount, is transferred to savings.
I pay off our card before due date every time. The card earns me cash back which I transfer to a Savings accout every month.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

I use my credit card for any purchase where I might want consumer protection at a later date. I also find it a useful way of buying something I need but haven't got the cash to buy, until next pay day. But I always pay off the bill in time, and so never pay any interest.0

We've also just heaped £5,500 on a 0% interest card. This is our first debt since we became debt free two and a half years ago. The money was spent on redecorating our bedroom and a new bed. We would have saved up but we wanted to bring the purchase forward and a credit card allowed us to do this.
did you gold plate the walls and raise your own silkworms to make bed sheets :eek:0 -
Initially got mine as a way to build a credit history & for buying stuff on the internet. Always paid off in full.
Now I've got two, the original & a 0% card. I keep them for any large purchases & the associated protection & also if I have a minor emergency like needing a new washer I can pay it off by tightening my belt over a couple of months rather than dipping into savings.0 -
1. Cashback
2. Convenience
3. S75 Protection
No credit card has ever cost me money, but they've given me plenty of money over the years.
I'm not sure what a "savings card" is?0 -
