There is another thread on this subject but thought I'd better post separately to avoid confusion. Now there is a legal ruling that says excluding psychological distress as a reason for not being able to do something in the PIP form is discrimination I am wondering if I can change the answers I gave on my PIP form sent in ten days ago. I had a lot of problems filling it out, particularly the last two questions Q13 Planning Going out/Going Out and Q14 Moving Around.
I became quite stressed with these two questions as my main problems when travelling are stress, I often don't go out when I need to because of stress and do get rather stressed when travelling. I ended up after some hours scribbling through what I'd written, writing on the form that this was just "too hard as I am not allowed to say what I need to say", gave up. I phoned my social worker who phoned PIP and they told her I should send in the form as it was, with what I had been able to fill out. It was already late by this time (they also gave a few days extension again).
Now there are these changes, which mean, I assume that I can now explain that travelling/planning travelling is extremely difficult, that I need prompting and support to go out, that I often don't go out when I need to (to buy food for example) because of stress. I am due to get a support worker but this hasn't happened yet so i am on my own. I recently had a journey that I HAD to make due to family problems that should have taken 1hr 20 mins that took 3 hours.., I got lost and had stress problems at every stage of the journey. I was lucky some people helped me.
Can I amend the PIP form I sent in ten days ago? I can't even remember which boxes I ticked (I kept copies of my written answers but not the form as I really did get extremely stressed filling in the form). Just reached a point when I'd had enough.

Don't see why you couldn't write an additional letter along the lines of:
"Following the High Court's decision on Dec 21st and the DWP's decision is accept this ruling, I would wish the Mobility descriptors 1 c, d or f [whichever is appropriate] to be considered.....", and then explain how psychological distress affects you in following a journey.
Be sure to include your NI number so they can link it to your PIP form. Take a copy and take both along to your assessment.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0 -
There is a high chance you will get turned down for pip anyway so I would wait til you get the letter back detailing what they scored and didnt score you on, then Write your mandatory reconsideration tailored to your descriptor points.0

You know nothing of the OP's health situation, except that she experiences significant distress. She may receive a PIP award with no difficulty at all.
You keep posting information that is both inaccurate and seemingly intended to cause upset. Please stop and think before posting.0 -

So 80-87% of pip applications being rejected is wrong for me to say you have a high chance of rejection. That is only 13-20 people out of every 100 applicants getting awarded pip. The form is designed to eliminate as many people as possible. They even exceed their targets on that area. The truth is If you dont automatically check the right boxes on the form then you will have a lot higher chance of being denied it. That does not mean you are not entitled to it, and it does not mean you wont get it, Unfortunately that is enough to stop people from appealing as they doubt themselves with getting such low points.
My point is not to make anyone sad or anxious but yet I am not someone that will sit here saying yeah your entitled to it so you will get it. I would rather have people believing they are going to have to fight a little bit. I had a specialist fill out my application provided many medical reports, I scored 2 points for daily living and 4 points for mobility. Which goes to show anything off that form was not even looked at. Mandatory Reconsideration I was awarded 14 points for daily living and 10 points for mobility, That is a huge difference because they actually read supporting evidence on the mandatory reconsideration.
I get fed up with some people that make out that if your entitled to it then it will just be handed to you, I know people that in my opinion should have been rewarded it on application stage no questions asked yet had to go to tribunals to get it. I always tell people to include as much accurate details as possible, and supply supporting evidence with application, but do not get down if you fail to get awarded it as the mandatory reconsideration is your best bet as you know what areas you have been marked down on and can adjust their answers to the reality of your situation and have something to work with and improve upon what the form allows you to state.0 -

Do you have a link to back up this data please? I haven't personally met anyone yet who has been turned down - even someone who I thought would be unlikely to be successful.0 -
"So 80-87% of pip applications being rejected is wrong for me to say you have a high chance of rejection"
Where do you get this ridiculous stat from?
Source please.
I bet 91.4% of your friends have told you a million times not to exaggerate.
"My point is not to make anyone anxious" But that is exactly what you are doing!
By posting this twaddle you may deter people from claiming and getting an award.
You really shouldn't postulate from your individual case to make a generalised assumption about all claims. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axiom
BTW: 80% of MR requests are rejected.

it was on a panarama or similar show i watched last year before applying for my pip where they had a whistle blower on it. Trying to get current published data is hard to find on quick google searches, the only 1 I can find is January 2016 where their stats are at 47% off applicants being successful but that includes all applications, MRs and Tribunals.

A more up to date version but only discussing the target of MR

I would like to also apologise if I cause distress to anyone, I have Asperger so do not think about peoples emotional feelings I can only share what I have experienced and do not claim to be an expert. Reality is a lot of people do not get what they are entitled to and they have to fight for it, A lot of people are not even aware of additional help they may be entitled to as it is not as if you get a diagnosis and a leaflet with every benefit you are entitled to. But I still stand by what I say be prepared to fight for what your entitled to and dont give up just because you got denied a certain benefit on application stage. I wish we had an ideal world where we all get what we are entitled to hassle free I know 20+ people that receive pip now and 4 that are waiting on Tribunal stage only 1 of the 20 got pip on application and sadly that is because they automatically qualify with terminal illness.0 -

Just because you were refused, this doesn't mean that others will be too.0 -
I have not once said that people will not get it if you go on the what is published data out there.
47% off applicants get pip at some stage of application including MR and tribunal
20% of them get it at MR stage
65% at Tribunal stage
so that is 85% of the 47% being awarded it at an appeal stage which shows a majority of people are being rejected at application stage.0
