My elderly Dad is getting badly pestered with scam phone calls at the moment.
He has been registered with the TPS for many years ( chocolate teapot springs to mind ).
He is with BT & I have set up & actively manage BT Call Protect for him.
However he is still getting calls from 01143190625 / 26 /27/ etc
The trouble is that these scammers keep altering the last digit of their number so as soon as we block one number the change the last digit & the call gets through !!
Is there anything I can to to stop these pestering dishonest sh*ts ??

You probably need a call blocker, where you can set it to only accept calls from certain numbers.

Does he have an answering machine? If not can you get him one.
Is he of sufficiently sound mind to be advised to only answer phone calls from known callers?
If that can be done then all the scammers will get is the answering machine.0 -
You need a phone based on call guardian. Some BT branded ones are this type. They only let through unchallenged calls from numbers in the phone address book. Unknown numbers get asked to announce their name and you can decide whether or not to take the call. You need caller id for them to work.0

BT 8500 phone, set up all his contacts everyone else will then have to announce. Needs caller id to work, and his regular contacts should turn off their 141 or equivalent for him.

Need to a. stop him picking the phone up automatically and b. limit gadget use which means... use an answering service. Anyone should be able to use 1571 but if not train him. For family could arrange the "3 call system"; if phone rings 3 times then rings off - next call is family. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0

I don't think the 8500 is available anymore.(I have it ... the dual handset version. I can count on the fingers of 1 hand how many :spam: calls have got through in the several years that I've had it ... went from up to 5 a day to 1 a year).

I have no spam calls because I simply do not answer calls that are from unknown callers. Important? They'll leave a message. Not important? They'll hang up.0
