    Good morning everyone.

Strange weather. Half an hour ago I had no view at all, low cloud or mist blocking out everything. Now it’s lifted and the sky is very dark with patches of light.

The road from my local village (no shops, one pub and one closed for winter museum) appears blocked off from the town 12 miles away. As I’m in between them and right by the sea I have no snow, just icy rain and odd bursts of large wet slushy frozen rain.

I was planning to go into the office to work, that’s not going to happen now so I’ll make a new plan. It’ll involve bringing in logs, freezer rummaging and knuckling down to final assessments for this term.

Lainey - sad news about your beloved dog.

Healing thoughts to all those who are struggling. Happy Friday to all.
  • Good Morning chums and <<hugs >. to the sad, lonely and poorlies>> January is a rotten month I think and everyone feels cold wet and fed up after all the highs of December, made worse by the awful fluey bugs and colds that everyone seems to get.
This morning I am making a very large vat of leek and tattie soup with a few extra veg chucked in for good measure I found a large y/s bag of diced up leek and potato at the back of my freezer which cost me the princely sum of 20p last year so thats going to be made with a few extra bits chucked in to bulk it out a bit. Its definitely soup weather, here in Kent the sun is shining but its very cold and windy.I will have enough soup for at least 4-5 days I think by the time I'm finished :)

This afternoon I have History club which is always my favourite afternoon of the week as we have such a great time there.Tomorrow night I am out to dinner at my DDs and will get to see Margaret and see how she is getting on.The funeral is set for 1st February and the local pub is laying on the wake afterwards. They saw the vicar last night and arranged all the service .Margaret is still staying at her DDs at the moment My son-in-law is going up on Sunday to rearrange the furniture back to how it was, as the hospital bed was taken away yesterday.
We are all rallying around and doing what we can as that's what families do.

I had a message from my grandson Ben in Norwich, and he has two interviews next month. One at his own Uni, and one at Goldsmiths for his PGTC for this coming September.Hopefully one will be offered for him.

Right time to get a wriggle on

Take care and keep wrapped up as warm as possible chums

    Morning all

Cold here but bright and sunny too. I have washing on the line and I hope it will dry a bit.

OH has had a cold this week. Not one of those nasties I hope and is feeling much better today. I have been fighting it off so not as lively as usual.

Not much to report except had our renewal notice from the insurance company. It was obviously sent out by the computer and DH has had to ring them to say they had just settled a claim. This year@s premium will go up by £25 and DH is not going to shop around in view of our recent claim. We are still umming and ahing about having an alarm fitted and waiting for the window to be repaired.

Well hugs to poorlies and worrieds. Have a good day and keep warm. Roll on Spring!

A delivery arrived yesterday of things like kitchen roll, bin bags, soft drinks, paracetamol, coffee sachets and lots of dish washing liquid and laundry powder and capsules. I put half of it away last night and sorted out the rest of it this morning.

Washing machine has been on and some of it is on an airer and the rest in a tumble drier which I will turn off before I leave the house.

No snow or ice here but going to York to watch a film with a dd. The cinema is right by the bus stop so won't have to walk far if it is icy.
Going to have some soup or omelette before I set off so I don't get tempted by junk food. Will look out a home made frozen meal to defrost while I am out.

Youngest's bf had a job interview on Wednesday so fingers crossed for them. Not sure if any family are coming over on Sunday so will play things by ear.

    Hugs to all

    Afternoon

Very late again but at least nanny isn't in yet so it will just be lines not detention:D

Gorgeous day here blue sky and sunny so lovely to see the big yellow ball for a change.

Been for an early morning shop for a few bits I needed but at the grand sum of £14.00 it seemed a lot for not a lot...my kind of shop

last night was a really good meeting with the book club. We planned a couple of books for January and also some dates for social events so we will be going to a spa weekend , visiting London again, afternoon tea in a Manchester hotel, Chester races and a weekend in north wales in one of the girls caravan :j busy year. Its a great group and Im so pleased to have met them this time last year :)

So last night I had chicken in bbq sauce with bacon, chips and peas ...lovely. Tonight I am making a new recipe for veggie burgers which had better be worthwhile ...took me ages to find the required black beans and then this morning I managed to chuck half a packet of quinoa on the kitchen floor ...blimey that stuff found its way into every corner

So cooking and cleaning afternoon with some 4 in a bed catch up too :)

Lainey sorry to hear about your lovely old dog. 13 years is a long time to have him part of your family

RosyRed congrats on the win. Well done indeed.

LaineyT Sorry to hear about your beloved pooch. Count every day a blessing. Quality over quantity every time.

    Dumpling how are you doing?

Csarina, sorry your feeling low. Such a hard road your having to go down. Many hugs.

Sorted in my head what i am going to do about Prodigal we need to have a little chat. Grump wont be happy and neither will Prodigal.

In the middle of cooking the fatted calf though i expect he wont be eating much as he has a late appointment at the dentist.

    Afternoon all.
Yes I'm late again but I did send in a letter explaining that I was going out today. So Nelski, whats your excuse eh ? I also plan on meeting friends for coffee tomorrow too, in case I'm in the late club again :rotfl:.
We went to town this morning to pay some money in the bank, now that's a novelty as it's usually out, out , out ! Then we took a trip to the Forest of Dean, which involved a gentle stroll around the lake as my back is still niggling me and so I packed a picnic ( get me so "OS" ). Asked Mr Fix It to pack the walking boots as it was very sunny but cold and would be muddy underfoot and 20 mins later he was still faffing about stuffing things in the backpack. I swear he thought we were going up the North face of the Eiger . Anyway pulled up in the forest and he had forgotten my camera ! Next time I'll forget his sandwich ;).
Judi you stick to your guns lovely and do whatever seems right for you.
Nelski are we still friends ? Fancy trying to dob me in to teacher about being late again :rotfl::rotfl:.
LaineyT I'm so sorry about your beloved dog.
Rosyred congrats :T a fiver is better than nothing. I can't even win an argument !
TA did you manage to get the girls to school OK ? Take the cleaning easy, just little steps till you're feeling better.
Csarina sorry you are in low spirit at the moment, it must be hard when your OH is poorly too. Hugs
OK I'm off to get some tea, I fancy a bacon sandwich, can't be bothered cooking a meal. Mr Fix It will have the same, or cook his own :D.
Hugs to all the poorly, sad or worried. Even if you just feel down, have a hug from me.
    Take care all.

    Afternoon everyone

Hope you're all surviving the weather. It's just sleet here but snow forecast for tonight.

Went to the pool yesterday and it was closed, just had a shower and went to work super early! Better luck today though, had a good swim.

I've just had a walk down into the town to visit the bank, had a nosey in M & Co and bought a new dressing gown in the sale, can't wait to have a bath and try it out!

Washing all up to date and DW emptied, will make prawn stir fry for tea.

Stay safe and hope the poorlies are all on the mend. Take care. XX
