  • Oh dear, I've just realised that I'd forgotten I'd joined the challenge.

Have done really well this month though, a comfortable mouth of grocery money left over. I've started shopping at Mr A - not sure why I ever started shopping at Sainsbugs although its slightly closer to home and is on the route back from work, but Mr A isn't much further.

I've had a trial delivery pass this month for Mr A. I've only used it a couple of times but it was a welcome change from trawling around the shop. The trial runs out next week and it will go onto a £5 direct debit, but I think I am going to keep it going and make myself do a weekly order. We've also got an Aldee just around the corner from us so I can easily top up. Plus I like to pop into the coop - I've got 10% discount still and the cash back is really handy too.

So, some of the meals I've made are a homemade curry for DH - used a £5 pack of beef chunks. Then I've made a veg soup with a leek, carrots, potato and onion. I picked up some cheese today, so will make scones tomorrow afternoon. I've also got a few leftover baking bits to use up.

I don't think I'll spend anywhere near the £400 I budgeted, sadly I'll never know now, but at least I've made a start. If I can join next month I promise I'll do better :A

Mr T today £59.60 (early weekend shop due to aforementioned visit). Used my clubcard points to offset extra food and wine (had £13.50)

Total £185.30 from my budget of £350 so leaves £164.80

Got to love a short month!

  • Hi all, used the scanners at Waitr*se today, spent £45.74, which was reduced to £37.74 after the coupon. Then spent £18.98 in Ald! on some things that I knew were much more expensive in Waitr*se regardless of the money off voucher. I also stocked up on snacks for the kids as it's half term next week.
I'm planning on doing some baking with the kids over the weekend, so that should tide us over until they go to my parents on wednesday.
    Currently standing at £286.61/£400

  • oh dear.
lidls greek week! i'd specially cleared half a shelf in the freezer for the lovely pastries but ended up buying almost a shelf worth. the freezer is now rammed full and the only option to find anything is to empty out and refill after :D
in total I spent £34.71 there and with sorting what of my morries shop is this month and putting the remainder in next months i'm guessing I have about £20 left for the month. I should only need fresh veg and sarnie stuff next week but I think i'll be over budget.
I don't really like splitting bulk shops over 2 months (the morries shop), but if I put it all in this months I automatically go over budget and it's just written off. if I split it over two months I have to account for it.

not grocery challenge but my other big spend this week was on Tuesday. the earth moved for me Monday night when I was catching up on online reading in bed (and 'bed dancing'). my VERY creaky and wobbly bed finally collapsed giving me a rather big shock :D luckily my book collection stopped it dropping more than a few inches, so i've still been able to sleep in it til I have a day off today to fully dismantle it. shiny new bed was delivered yesterday so might be in it tonight depending how quickly I can sort it, am just waiting for painkillers to kick in before starting.

You have made a start, the first month is always difficult to tally, but you have made a start, next month will be easier.

Taking 2 friends shopping today so I know it will include me spending too.:o
Do I need it or just want it.

£38.60, between Lidl, B&M and Morrisons, hopefully some stock items will last a month or so.

  • I'm doing pretty well this month and that's been helped by me going to stay with my parents for 4 days and getting cooked for! I had to buy a couple of bits today but kept it to what I needed plus a bunch of daffs cos I love them. So £2.86 spent on daffs, bananas and a tin each of chickpeas and baked beans.

    21.92/100
  • Yesterday spent £81.28 on Tesco online shop. Stocked up on lots of fresh and store cupboard bits, using a £9 off a £90 spend offer.
Also, £13.78 at Morrisons on various bits.
Need an Ocado shop for Astonish bits, but then i should only need bread and top up bits until the end of the month.

Not long to push now folks. Good luck :)

Been on the lookout for an extending dining table. Found an amazing one in a junk shop and got him to knock it down to £40, including delivery. So chuffed. He delivered it straight away - giving me a lift home into the bargain - how great is that. Can't wait to christen it.

Bought an absolute ton of groceries today - forgot I was doing a store cupboard challenge, only spending £7pw on fridge stuff - whoops - oh well, got 3 dairy free cheeses, 4 pks falafel, Linda Mc Chorizo cocktail sausages, wraps, advocado (13 @ £1) and a load of salad stuff, a few houmous, various beans, laundry stuff, wash-up and loads more. Came to £23.52. Can't see I need much more this month, just spinach n Vegenaise. Now on £30.56/£80 Have a lovely w/e everyone.
