They've also munched my rice cakes and the minirolls:(
Looks like I need to hide more food in the wardrobe and just bring it out in rations!..:rotfl:

Seems like everyone is plodding along nicely this month, I'm really going to try and come in under budget again, have plans for the leftover funds ;)

  • £15.55 spent yesterday on a valentine's card for dh plus some treats (fruit and a bar of chocolate for dh) and staples that we ran out of. Aiming for another NSD today, will have to either do a small online shop or pop into Mr T's for shampoo and conditioner and some deodorant as I'm almost out. Even with the small delivery charge I am finding online shopping helps me keep to a budget far more easily. I am a complete sucker for offers if I actually go into a shop, whereas online I go through everything before it's confirmed and take out anything I shouldn't really have in there. The food cupboards are actually starting to look much more organised so I can clearly see what we do and don't have. Before I started it was actually jumping out of the cupboards when I opened the door! We don't seem to be wasting anywhere near as much which is fantastic.

At least the sun is shining today!

  • Got myself in a total panic this morning, with £160 spent on a whistle-stop tour around L!dls, Pets@tHome & Makr0, until I realised that most of it didn't actually belong in the "household" budget! £20 was from the £50 monthly Entertainments allowance (beer & cider bought, £30 left for a trip to the cinema or a celebration take-away, if needed) £30 was special stuff OH needs for his marathon training, which we've agreed shouldn't be accounted for out of everyday household money, and £65 was bulk-buy stuff as I needed to restock three items from that - and that "budget" may need to be increased before the end of the year, as half of it's gone already before one-sixth of the year is up! So we're halfway through the month, and halfway through the normal household budget - so far, so good.

  • Spend of £41.44 in A5da - need to focus on using what's in the fridge, freezer and cupboards now to remain within GC budget for this month, but last month's spend was low due to having plenty of stock left from the seasonal shopping frenzy so won't lose too much sleep if going over this month - should still be nicely under budget if averaging out two month's spending.

Only one spend this week so far and that was for an online delivery order from Sainsbobs - a mixture of store cupboard/fridge/freezer items. Total spend (after allowing for savings on promotional stuff, three freebies and a £6 MOC coupon) was £42.35 so pleased with that. :) We also stocked up on frozen prawns and mussels that DH gets (discounted) from the fishmongers but not counting them in the GC as I now have a separate bulk buy fund for these.

All 4 DGCs and DDiL have birthdays over the next 2 weeks so I'll be going into town tomorrow for birthday cards from the market (much cheaper and nicer selection than nearer home) and I also want to have a mooch round in Heron Foods and Morries. HF will be a new experience for me as I've not been there before and there are a couple of items I need from Morries that I can't get locally. I might have to put on blinkers though to keep me on the straight and narrow. ;)

Just under half of the monthly budget left so I'm hopeful that, come the end of the month, I'll have some surplus cash to sweep into the holiday fund. :D

  • Hey all, I hope everyone's having a good Thursday. I'm rather shattered from work this week. I don't think I'm even going to bother eating a proper dinner tonight. Possibly just some hot broth and get back to work later this evening.

€32.35 at Lidl this evening: a bucket of grape tomatoes; shallots; aubergines; zucchini; 3-colour bell peppers; stir fry vegetables x2; 2 avocados; 2x olives; peppadews stuffed w/cheese; parchment paper; Babybels; feta; frozen garlic shrimp and frozen eggplant parmesan for OH and me when we need easy dinners later. I'll probably use part of the frozen garlic shrimp with some of the stir fry vegetables later this weekend.

I also picked up some items in the Greek Week sale: a canister of tzatziki herbs and a goodly sized tub of actual tzatziki. The latter encouraged me to circle back and pick up the 3-colour peppers to use as vehicles for dipping.

I thought the avocados at Lidl were €1.50 each but I forgot they're actually on sale 2 for €1.50. That's a steal and the cheapest we've seen them in a while. I'll probably return tomorrow just to get 4 more and let them ripen over the next week or so. Oh, and some bananas for OH and berries for me. After that, I should be done for the next few days throughout the weekend. Next week here is Lidl's Italian Week and I'll stock up on sauces, canned tomatoes and other items. I'll try to limit myself to €20.

    Totals So Far:
    €129.91 / €450
    8 / 10 NSDs
  • Oh! I also finally followed up with Holland and Barrett yesterday and the rep and discovered the reason I hadn't been refunded yet. Turns our the Doddle collection center still hadn't returned the package to the distribution center so it was never logged properly. The customer service rep put in a request to Doddle center to return the package and she said my refund should appear within 5 to 7 working days. I'll keep an eye on it to be back on my credit card by next Tuesday or so.
