Overcharged? Car repair

Hi, I have a 2010 voltswagon polo

The garage have charged me:
Labour to fit replacement timing belt - £160
Antifreeze - £21.60
C/B kit and waterpump - £132.44

Total - £314.04

The garage told me that would be the price with everything included including VAT.

But now I have my printout that lists those items like I have done, then at the bottom gives the total, then adds on 20% VAT bringing the total higher.

Yes I told them the situation and they they told me to call back later as the mechanic was not around.

Do I have any rights should they say they don't want to refund me?

Is it in writing? Or just your word against theirs.

It was over the phone - not in writing so I guess that means my word against theirs

Right I have spoke to them, they deny giving me the £314 quote and say they gave me £376.84 quote and shouted at me down the phone then hung up on me. Please tell me I have rights can't the phone call be recorded somehow I am so distressed after being screamed at

You can pay the amount you thought you had to pay and let them take you to small claims court where it will be decided on, do you think all phone calls are recorded? I don’t know of any garages who do that, if a call is recorded there will be a recorded message telling you calls are being recorded.
Do you have your car back? A garage is one place where they can keep your car if you do not pay a bill.

I've already paid the bill. No I just thought all phone calls in general are recorded
