    Morning

No snow here thank goodness I'm with JackieO in hating the stuff. The wind was bad during the night but seems it just moved my furniture around a bit...mind you I haven't had a walk around to check yet so hoping the gate has survived this time.

Made a huge beef casserole yesterday which brewed in the slow cooker all day so should be good ...needs portioning out for the freezer today.

Book club meeting tonight which I'm looking forward to. We were doing lots of social events at the end of last year and not a lot of reading so be good to get our new book sorted. I have a couple of ideas but ill see what the group want to do.We are meeting in the pub so everyone is eating first which will be good to catch up on everyones news.

Need to put bedding on the spare bed today...my most hated job...as one of the group travels so will stay over tonight.

No food needed tonight so I will just have a boiled egg and soldiers for lunch

Right off to make tea number 3 :D
  • Good morning chums bright and sunny but quite a windy one here in Kent at the moment

Ah Speky you are a good lad and your Granny sound lovely Hope you don't get too cold up there ,Scotland and the north seem to be bearing the brunt of the bad weather right now.

Well we went to Lakeside and I managed to get some bits for my DGD's expectant baby. But golly the prices of baby stuff ,and the extra bits that seem to be sold today a long way from my day back in the 1960s when we just got on with things and made do.

I was talking to my DGD yesterday afternoon as we went to see her on the way home. :) apparently the new way of thinking isn't to wean babies off milk and on to food as we did with a muelie-grater.

According to her anti-natal class today's way is 'baby-led weaning' which seems to be nothing but milk for the first 6 months, then just feed on what your eating,so no tins of purred baby food

Quite how a baby can eat stuff without teeth I'm not too sure but we shall wait, and see I kept my opinions firmly to myself :)

Like all new mums she will find out for herself I expect she only has nine more weeks to go and the baby seems to be flourishing OK

Today I have some pottering things to do this morning generally a bit of a tidy up before the weekend then this afternoon I shall be off to Dds and if I knock up some Melting Moments biscuits for my DGS they will be more than happy to make me a cuppa :)

Keep warm and dry chums if you can and if you have snow, stay out of your cars and indoors if possible,it won't last for long, and its not worth damaging yourself or your vehicle for a few days

    Cheers chums

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, and for any one who is poorly or has poorly realtives.

Not much change here, OH went to the toilet yesterday afternoon and then spent an hour groaning about his nausea and giddiness, the best thing is just to leave him until it goes off. He dressed himself and came through just after 3pm. He did have another sight dizzy after supper, I made him recline his chair and it went off.

We sat and watched Father Brown recordings until 9.15, then shower and bed. I am only showering him every other day just now, do not want his skin to break down, once you get a pressure sore its not easy to get it to heal.

I woke in the night to hear the wind rattling round. I need to go out and see if there is any damage to the garden at all.

I have to admit I am gad we are not in Scotland just now. We have no snow here and its a bright morning, although it does keep clouding over.

No idea whats for supper, twice I have cooked stew or mince and OH has not eaten it .........last night was quiche half a jacket spud with tomato and celery salad.

Dumpling, pleased that Beckys first day went ok and you had a reasonable nights sleep, hope all goes well today.

JackieO its meant to be blended into a fine pulp. Mind you, years ago i visted a friend whos little girl was only a few months old and was stunned to see her Mum had given her a pork chop (cooked of course and no bones) to chomp on. I just couldnt believe what i was seeing. Saying that, i presume the child hadnt got teeth at that point so i doubt if she would have choked on any bits that came off it.

I did a potato and carrot mush for Diva on Monday. She quite enjoyed it.:)

    Morning everyone

dumpling - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH, DS1 & 2 all gone to their various jobs/college.

Bright sunny day here, but blustery. I think we were in the eye of the storm at 5am - power went out and the wind was so strong it was picking up full wheelie bins and moving them, there's loads of huge trees fallen, a lorry blew over on one of the local roads so that was blocked as were several roads by the fallen trees. Some of the schools are shut too. I went out to the local town (went via the back roads an advantage of being local and knowing where the short cuts are as the roads were chaos!) So those jobs got done, I bought some bread and milk and came home and thankfully the power was back on. So WM is on and I'll pack the DW shortly, quick run round with the hoover and some lunch then go to the hospital for an hour to see mum. Home and I'll continue with getting the chores done and dinner organised.

Theatre was excellent as always last night and boys enjoyed it more than they thought they would.

    Keep safe and well x

Judi do any of the addict family support groups have ideas to help in your predicament with Prodigal?

  • Judi maybe grump is right. I’m not being horrible by saying this but you are maybe enabling his behaviour. If he knows you will always be there for him he sees no need to change his behaviour. Maybe he needs to reach rock bottom before he begins to help himself.

    Afternoon all
Had a very frustrating morning at the surgery, again ! Mr Fix It has 7 types of medication every month without fail, so why did someone decide to put 2 of the same item and miss one off completely this time round . So now we have to go back and collect the missing item and he has no repeat sheet. Oh give me strength ! On top of that my hair has rebelled against it's cut and has gone in curls like Zebedee's spring and I have also hurt my back, so I'm walking like Quasimodo :rotfl:. Other than that we're fine :D.
Did call in Wil*os for some castors because we have decided to put them on a cupboard my Grandmother left me. It's so heavy that even empty it takes the two of us to move it and we've only had it about 17 years . Why didn't we think of doing it before .
The weather is confused today, it doesn't know what it's doing as we've had sun, rain, sleet and snow showers. However the wind has dropped, thank goodness. We also had gale force winds and lot's of rain during the night but everything is still standing, even our wonky tree !
Tea tonight will be HM chicken curry, rice/chips and poppadoms, which were a leftover packet from Xmas. I also found some onion bhajis in the freezer so we'll have those too. There is strawberry trifle for pudding, if there's any room left in the tummy :).
Hope everyone is doing OK in the snowy areas, with hatches battened down and provisions gathered in :). Glad to hear that the wind caused minimal damage and I hope everyone stays safe and warm.
Dumpling fingers crossed that Becky to be able to settle in a.s.a.p now she's back home and Steves pre op goes well.
Judi many hugs for you. I don't know what I would do in your shoes. I would be torn too.
Hug bucket at the ready, please help yourselves should you need one. Hope all the poorly are on the mend.
    Take care all.

  • SCARLET RIBBONS were you luckier than me? Did your hairdresser turn up? I am still feeling very annoyed with mine after sleeping on it (more so as my hair is such a mess!!) as I am more than twice her age and battled through snow to get there on time - and she didn't even bother either letting me know or even turning up. xx

Hi all, we missed the high winds last night, situated in a river valley and I think it went over us in the lower part of the town. Gym session with the PT this morning. I lost all my muscle mass after being ill, after falling backwards whilst squatting doing something in the garden and banging my head, with no-one else at home I decided I needed professional help. After several blips, bad falls, viruses, etc. I am making progress again, it feels really good:D

Dumpling - pleased that you got some sleep and that Becky had a good day, hope all went well for Steve.
Judi - You really are between a rock and a hard place:(
Nannywindow - how annoying about the meds, sadly it seems to be a common problem:eek:

Hugs and spoons to all that need them, hope the bad weather moves on soon.
