Annula travel insurance query?

I have annual travel insurance for a holiday booked now and due to be in June, however it runs out at the end of February. Am I covered? Or do I have to take out another annual policy or a single trip insurance for the week in June?
Always confused by how this works. I don't really want to take out another annual policy.

If you are going to travel several times in the year the annual insurance makes a lot of sense and you need to buy a new one so that it starts the day after the current one expires.

If you have no intention of travelling anymore this year your June trip is certainly covered until the existing insurance expires, then I would assume you can just buy single trip insurance. It's not anything I have done so it's purely IMHO!

    Assuming you take no action:

Develop a nasty illness before February expiry and you're covered.
Develop a nasty illness in March and you're not covered.
Get your passport and valuables nicked on holiday and you're not covered.

You can take out a single trip policy at the end of February. Or renew your annual policy. Or take out a new annual policy.

But you should put cover in place one way or the other as the existing policy ends.
  • I'm missing something in the question - how could a policy that ends in February cover June ?

It was just whether you are covered if you have the insurance at time of booking.

That;s how annual policies work. The problem is if some health condition occurs when the current policy ends, it would need to be declared if you then took out a single policy.

If the annual policy ends in February you would not be covered in June once the policy has expired.
You would need to renew or get another policy in place once that one expires, whether it is another annual policy or just a single trip one.

You would need it to declare it anyway, even if you were just going to let your existing annual insurance roll over.
  • Any insurance policy I've ever had has only been valid between its start and end dates.

I had to enquire about annual travel insurance policies which state not valid after age 65 - that doesn't mean it ends on that birthday - it continues until midnight 364 days thereafter.

Well if you have to cancel the holiday before the end of Feb you are covered......
Obviously no cover at all once the annual one has expired!
