If you have an external hard rive , you could drag files to that .
Then sync iPod with iTunes . Would think this would work
Perfectly logical thing to say, but it doesn't work like that - you can't just access the storage on an iPod.
knightstyle - I have personally successfully used yamipod (Windows) to do this. But for the future, iPod is a secondary device, and everything should be stored on your primary device - your computer.0 -
Sorry to hijack this thread but- i have a knackered( the screen is blured and hard if not possible to read) 8gb i-pod that i was given years ago with loads of music on it,most of which i do not listen to ( used to belong to my son ) but i now have a sony walkman that i will use in the future.
The question- if i download i- tunes to my desktop will i be able to download the music from the i-pod to the computor and then upload selected tunes to my sony walkman
Also is i-tunes a free service or do you have to pay for it? sorry for long post.0 -

iTunes is free
You'll hit the same problem as the OP of this thread did. It's not designed for moving data back from the iPod to the computer0 -

Thanks for the help, nothing for it,will have to put cd,s into desktop and transfer them via windows media player to sony walkman.to be honest 85% of the music on the i-pod i would not listen to anyway as i am over 60 years old:rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Ganga - as above, iPods are secondary devices and you're not supposed to copy FROM them, only TO them. You're supposed to have all your (master) music on you computer, and copy all, or selections of it, to your iPod. iTunes won't help you.
But yamipod will - I've used it successfully in the past - and it's free!0 -

Whether you use WMP or another CD ripper (EAC, DBPoweramp), then don't write them straight to the Sony. Set up a Music Folder, and order your music by Artist, Album, etc within that. Once you have done this, check the tags on the files with a tagging utility such as mp3tag, and THEN copy them to the Sony portable, and, if you want them in iTunes, use the Add Folder to Library option to populate your whole iTunes library from this Music Folder.
That way, if anything corrupts your iTunes, or the Sony, you can reload from the Music Folder. Keep backups of this folder.0 -

I've never understood why people find this so difficult to understand.0 -
