I personally agree with divadee's post. I don't think it is helpful when someone is told they are stupid for wanting to buy a house. It is much better if all the houseprice crash posts can be put together in one place, so that genuine enquireers can get a decent answer to their question.
While we're at it, can we stop slating people who exercise their right to buy council houses and just give them the advice they ask for? They are doing nothing illegal.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Has anyone noticed there's a nation shortage of senses of humour?A house isn't a home without a cat.

You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

So have MSE declared that no-one can talk about the possibility of house prices going down... even when all the indices show they are?
Is this the equivilent of sticking you fingers in your ears and going "lalalalala I'm not listening I'm not listening..."
If people are asking for advice on house-buying, surely "don't buy at the moment as prices are dropping" is valid advice....? If you try to restrict the forum to advising people to buy as many houses as quickly as they can, then the forum becomes nothing more than a spin engine for the big housing VIs?Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -
i don't think it's what's said it's the way it's said.
most of the time it's condescending and somehow "factual", just cos the signs are showing that they should go down, doesn't mean they are or definetely will though as crazy as it is.
and BTMan i understood your "funny" joke

The whole point was that the HPC threads were starting to swamp this board, to the exclusion of all other issues/threads. Putting all such similar threads in one sticky seems like a practical solution.
Sorry guys but now you are not getting your fix of 3 new HPC threads per hour, you do sound like petulant children. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0
