Morning all
It was snowing as we walked home last night, and when I was up at about 2.15 there was quite a covering. However now it seems to be melting, but the wind is brisk and cold.
Yesterday afternoon I went shopping for a "Frozen" dressing gown for Dgd, it's her 5th birthday tomorrow. I bought a really nice one at M&S, sent a picture of it to DD and got approval.
Feeling a bit shivery and achy, I've just taken 2 painkillers for my back and hips. I think it's the UTI fighting back. I fell asleep quite quickly, but woke up about 2am and have had a bad night since then. At least I don't have to go to work!! Will probably stay near home today.
It's good that you have a support network for Becky, Dumpling
Thinking of everyone who is sad, worried or unwell.
Take care folks0 -
Good morning all,
Karcher sorry you're still poorly. If you have any Vick it really does seem to help.
Dumpling I'm glad you've had a peaceful night. I hope you all get through this week ok.
Gers that gritter news article is hilarious. I'm not sure which is my favourite. Gritty gritty Bang Bang or Ready Spready Go.....
Holly well done on the batch cooking. It's so nice when you're stuck for ideas and you can just open the freezer and take something out (I might have done just that this morning)
It's very cold, very wet and extremely windy here this morning. I've put the bin out and I've been out once since to close the lid on it again. I have fat class this morning (slimming world). There's a group of us that go but afterwards my friend and I go for a healthy breakfast in a nearby cafe where we discuss tactics/possible meals for the coming week. Last week was our first week so we want to try and do the same every week as it's been a really positive experience supporting each other. My aim this year is to lose a pound a week. I am still on a lot of painkillers for the dodgy leg (which is improving no end but still hurts) and as these are codeine based, weight loss is just that little bit harder with them. Time to get dressed and chase the HT off to school.
Take care all of you0 -
Morning one and all,
More snow overnight meant that my attempt to get out my estate was very difficult, but I managed it. Then went to the gym for them to say they weren't letting me, or anyone else, in. They were due a fire alarm drill and so everyone was to evacuate. After waiting 15 minutes, the manager didn't turn up as he was still stuck in the snow and so the drill was cancelled and we were let in.
Football tonight has been cancelled due to the snow, so I've an evening free tonight. Not sure what mischief to get up to. I might make or bake something.
Oh, I've just been sent a picture from my mum of the snow out her back. Looks like a foot of snow!!
Karcher - Plenty of fluids today!!0 -
Morning everyone,
Was pleased to read that you will be receiving daily help with Becky Dumpling x
Thanks for the grittier link Gers that did make me smile, another fan of Ready Spready Go!
No snow here but very cold and windy, the downstairs radiators have decided to stop working and my beloved can't find the Allen key so he's off out to get another one, let's hope that solves the problem.
Have the vet coming out today to take a blood test off Lulu, its to check for any nasties ahead of our move next week, at least that way she won't have to spend time in isolation.
Other than that no other plans, doing a sausage casserole for tea so good and warming.
Get well wishes to all poorlies and hugs to all with worries & troubles x0 -
Good morning all. Just the lightest dusting of snow during the night, that is quite enough for me.
Knit & Natter this afternoon, so warm clothes to be worn, the owner of the shop does not feel the cold, so a few of us who do have to layer up to keep cosy. I think I will be wearing my "best" American warm coat, full length feather and down with a furry quilted lining. It was horrifically expensive, but found on sale in nice outdoor shop in Tavistock one time we were visiting and OH treated me:D:D
Hollyharvey - thank you for starting us off, great to know some tasty meals available when you need one. Dumpling - I hope that the promised support for you and Becky comes good and that she is more settled. Karcher - keep warm and hydrated, fingers crossed that you have the less horrid version of the evil bug. nmlc - pleased that you had a better visit with your mum yesterday.
Hugs and spoons and keeping warm vibes to all. Roll on Spring. (I was delighted to find a few Snowdrops were out when I dashed out to feed the Blackbirds yesterday late afternoon, we seem to have 6 ATM and east masses for food I put out on the ground for them, as well as all the other birds using the feeders.)
GERS - almost forgot, loving the gritter names too, great idea involving the children like that. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Morning chums
No snow or major wind here in Essex. Dolly has been walked and is now ensconced with DH who is still unwell in bed he said did i fancy taking him out in the car for a drive as he is so bored thats when your awake then he got a firm NO i haven't been making sure that i am far enough away from him so as not to catch this cold/flu thing to sit in a small enclosed space breathing the same air with him.
May go food shopping but really cant be bothered so will have a root through the freezer to see if we can last another day
My Sanity has gone spent the day arguing with mum re the colour of jumpers she started by telling me that there were loads of red jumpers that matched her red bag No mum they are orange. Obviously I was wrong and she was right until i showed her the label which said orange to which she replied well i am colour blind  I wanted to get an outfit myself but as i walked into the shop she said oh I will just find a bench and meet you out here thanks mum so i had to ask the ladies in the shop to help me and i liked two tops and they were split 50/50 so i bought both:p
Nelski if we can find a nice cave and cauldron for the coven i will gladly deliver her anywhere in the UK,Scotland or Ireland:D
Dumpling sounds like the support will be there for you all hope the orthodontist appointment goes well for Becky today
Hugs to all those who are unwell or who have worries
have a great day whatever you are up to and stay warm and safe x0 -
Dumpling, I hope things remain calm for you. TA, I hope DD and the children get home safely.
DH is off to Peterbrough to meet an ex-colleague who has been trying to headhunt him for a while so retirement may not last very long! we don't want him to work full time and he will be looking for lots of flexibility so we shall see if it suits.
I will go and pick up th few bits I couldn't gt in Lidl on Monday and maybe have a mooch around the charity shops. I'll also continue sewing the giant quilt I am making, I'm at the boring stage of adding the sashing and borders so I want to finish that today. Then I need to think about backing fabric.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))) if you need one.
I have just written a long post and its gone into the wide blue yonder, sorry cannot be bothered to re-write it.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Dumpling, you are very wise to have the lock put on the knife drawer, horrid I know but it needs to be done. You have to be sure that Becky is safe. I hope the help for you continues past this week, it needs to be a long term thing.
For those of you with poorly other halves, I hope they are soon feeling better.
I was up early, expecting the council to come to the back door, its letting in an horrendous draught down the sides, I think the rubber draught excluder has perished.
OH has had his breakfast and is now asleep again, he does seem better in the evening, we watched a recording of Vera last night before we went to bed.
Its a bright morning, but I have had to turn the heat up, the house is cool, so I guess its pretty cold outside. The bad weather is due to be north of us, so fingers crossed its not too bad if it does reach us. One thing for sure, I am not going out in the car for a couple of days at least.
This has just re-appeared......0 -
Good morning chums and down here in the south we have no snow (yet) but it is very cold. Bright sunshine at the moment and forecast all day today and tomorrow, but a chilly wind and not warm at all.
I hope all of our friends in the north are safe well and warm and dry.looks pretty nasty up there.
I am one of those folk who,if it snows stays firmly indoors, and won't stick my head out until the blessed stuff is gone
I loathe the stuff ,looks pretty but so dangerous and if like me,you need a stick to walk with it could be lethal.
Today I am taking my youngest DD to Lakeside for some 'baby' shopping Her eldest DD Katie's baby is due in march and we want to get her some baby things. It will be my first Gt Grandchild so there should be a good choice to have a look at over there.
Dumpling, I hope all goes well with Becky and you get lots of help for her.
Speaky can you nip into your Grannie's and see if she needs anything if the snow is bad.
I am looking out of my window and can see right across the River medway as its very clear and the sky is a beautiful clour of blue ,but I can also see the white frost on the roofs at the back so it will be a case of wrapping up well when I go out.
Eldest DD is at home from work at the moment as she had a dreadful cold and can work from home Better than spreading her bugs around,I think she is very run down at the moment as the last two months too-ing and fro-ing to London every night to see our poor Frank is taking its toll.
Both her and her OH are poorly with bad colds. They have not been able to eat properly since November when they came home from their US trip.Stress and not eating properly will run anyones immune systems down I think.
Right well time to get a move on as I have to pick my youngest up and go and buy something nice for the forthcoming little girl.
Take care everyone and keep warm and dry if possible
