Haven't done Loughborough but when I applied for Ipswich (a similar regular saver) it cost me £1 something "to be signed for". The passport was back by return post.

    Hi Everybody,

I have carried out this weekend's update for this thread.

    - TSB Classic Plus current account (feeder account section) updated as interest rate has dropped from 5% to 3% earlier this month

I will do another update the weekend after next.

How rigorous are they on the ID checks for new postal customers?

Do they really need the certified copies of ID in addition to their electronic check?

I tried sending it in without any ID. Got a letter back within a few days saying that they required ID and to send it in to them. I didn't progress it any further - not worth the cost/hassle.

For those who have a Reg Saver Bond Issue 1 from Monmouthshire BS that's about to mature in the next few weeks, if you have access to their online banking, then you can request a transfer electronically. This is a new feature that was launched with their 'updated' online banking recently.

I phoned them having seen this new feature and was advised to wait until the account has matured and request funds online. Funds can only be sent electronically to your linked current account.

I'm not sure what the procedure is normally for those without online access - assume a paper maturation form with a cheque option? This will be my first Mon BS savings account that's going to mature so I may still receive a postal form despite having online access....time will tell.

Yes, that was case when mine matured in June, if no maturity instructions are received the account converts to an easy saver, back in May when I updated Nominated account within response this was said which indicated that any/all accounts could be closed with funds sent to nominated account -

Info. gleaned from recent visit to VM: accounts/products list from newly 'merged' company expected Sept/Oct 2019, and reg. saver expected to move back online (possibly exclusively).

    I really hope so.

Nearest VM branch to me involves 2x20 minute walk + 20 minute train, or 25 minute drive + car parking:cool: But what really puts me off is its in the town where I used to work, such a depressing place:(

Based on historical dates there could be a store version due early August, but this seems to cast doubt on the likelihood.

Yorkshire Bank offer terrible savings accounts let's hope the merger doesn't mean Virgin savings rates plummet.
