dont get this why would u need free childcare for a 9 year old when they will be at school during term times anyway? or does it include holidays?

For those of us who require wrap-around care i.e before and after school as both work full time?

Will be useful for holiday clubs as well.
  • Is this different to the tax free childcare vouchers bought through work?

If I remember correctly, it's one of the others?

It is not free child care, it is tax free childcare. You do not pay tax on the money used fo pay for child care.

Either you buy vouchers through your employer and the amount id deducted from your salary before calculating tax and NIC.
    OR

You pay money into a special account and the government add 20% to the amount. That money is used to pay the child care provider.

The second option is being gradually extended to cover all ages.
