It will be long term investing drip fed at the start.

However this Orbis offer that matches investments up to £100 maybe worth a try? Can a S&Ss ISA be created from this or am I overcomplicating thing?

Orbis offers an ISA or a general investment account (GIA). It is an unusual charging methodology though - fine for a little play but I wouldn't put everything in there (personally speaking, you must do your own research).

What do you mean, is this a reference to the fact I've no control over it?

More the fact it may lose money (at some point) and you need to be prepared for that and not panic

Fair point but surely that's the same for all?

Yes it is the same for everyone, but the point still remains that you have to be confident that you can bear that paper loss and not sell up, thus crystalising your losses.
