Good morning to one and all,
Deary me, where did all this snow come from!!! I've got at least 2 inches outside my flat when I got up at 6am. My new car isn't the best with the freezing conditions, something I quickly had to learn.
I played football last night and it started snowing half way through. I loved it, personally. Makes it atmospheric, much like the fog did last week.
The tuna casserole recipe turned out ok, just ok. I wanted to make more so I could freeze some but I then didn't have enough ingredients (Doh!). Nice and healthy though.
Tonight I was meant to clean my old car, inside and out, in advance of the people coming to inspect it and drive it away. My MOT bill came to £240 yesterday. Really rubbish having to pay for all that given I'll never sit in the bloody thing again. Good riddance. Anyway, with the weather, I might not. We'll see how it thaws out.
Jackie - Congrats to Jack!!
Karcher - Uh oh. Hope it's not too serious and you have a speedy recovery.0 -
CRANKY that lime mousse sounds delicious. Any chance of the recipe? I love anything lime. When I was a kid my favourite sweets were lime fruit tablets and, as none of my friends liked them, I got to eat the whole bag myself, with no sharing!
Mr TA has taken the girls to school and I am messing about doing anything but a much needed tidy up followed by a bit of a clean round! Just enjoying the peace and quiet before he gets back and we enjoy a late breakfast. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good Morning all from a chilly but dry Kent, after yesterdays dreadful weather its at least nice that its not bucketing down. All of my DGS came in from school yesterday afternoon looking like drowned rats bless them.
Today however there is even a glimmer of sunshine outside .
U3A coffee morning this morning at the local Dobbies so it will be nice to catch up with friends after the Christmas break although last week only a few turned up I think they were braving the weather then, today's turnout maybe bigger
DD texted me to say the provisional date for our Frank's funeral is 1st February, it seems at this time of the year sadly there is a higher demand after the holidays, especially with the elderly.
Boys are now all back at school and jack is still buzzing I have promised to take him up to Hatfield to the Uni in April so he can sort out his application and accomodation stuff
Yesterday his next brother down Henry who is doing his first year in 6th form said he too is thinking about next year and Uni, They all grow up so quickly I can't believe our Gentle Jack is 18 next month, he is such a nice lad and very sensible I think he will do well when he goes in September, he is already saving for it from his wages from his part-time weekend job. My DD will find it strange that her lads are flying the nest, but it will also be weird and so quiet
Right time to get a wriggle on along with the kettle as I am in need of some coffee to get my motor running:)
<<hugs>> to those who need one and keep warm and dry if you can
Cheers chums
JackieO xx
P.S. I too would like the recipe for the lime mousse it sounds delicious0 -
Karcher, feel better soon. Jackie, congrats to Jack. Dumpling, I hop today goes ok and you get the support you need.
My visit to the Dr was as expected, no chest infection. She's worried me that I may be allergic to Ziggypup. I won't see her (pup) until a week on Friday so I will see if the cough clears up beforehand and then comes back. At least if I know it is that I can be prepared when I see her.
DH felt very strange yesterday - it was his first "normal" day since he retired and I don't think he quite knew what to do with himself. I'll take him to Lidl today, he's handy for carrying the bags.
All the washing got done yesterday, bathroom clean today I think.0 -
Morning all,
Just bracing myself for dogwalking-it keeps hailstoning. At least I'm not working in it like DH & DS,they started an extension yesterday. Its on the outskirts near the moors and they came back wet and freezing yesterday.Luckily the log burner was lit so we had coats and boots drying in front of it.Even so they were glad to get stuck into a decent job after not having had that much work in recent months. They got the foundations dug out anyway so were pleased with that.
It was nice to tidy the kitchen though, and it still be tidy hours laterI also got stuck into sorting a cupboard of doom ,and got rid of lots of old correspondence etc and it's just been taken away in the paper recycling.Stuff with names on helped start the logburner too
Made a curry for tea so that warmed the men up nicely..I've got a beef stew out for tonight but need to make a loaf as I doubt I'll be venturing far today.
Her Highness is whining to go out so I'd better get booted up.
Thinking of you today dumpling x

Morning all
Cold but dry here in Essex Dolly has been walked and has now returned upstairs to bed with DH as he has succumbed to this awful flu/cold has been in bed since 4pm yesterday with sweats muscle ache and cough he is confined to his own room with his own towels etc i really dont want to catch it as we are offf to DD2 graduation on Monday. I am off to take mum to lakeside today to get us both an outfit for Monday which i am dreading she was told it was a long day we have to be at the Barbican at 8.30am:eek: and after making a fuss about the fact we told her it was a long day with lots of hanging around and her saying so you dont won't me to go which isn't true we just wanted her to be aware she is now fussing about getting there. When i told her the TFL journey planner said it will take just under an hour she says she doesn't believe it and she went there once and couldn't find it and it took them ages so i said ok i will book a cab to take us directly but they say we need to leave at 6.30am now thats wrong and too early  .She has now moved on from the logistics and is focussing on food when can she eat or drink where will we go as the place won't be open if we get there early even though she says she has been there numerous times when you ask specific questions like is there a cafe nearby she cant remember anything . We have booked the Swan at the globe for a celebration lunch but she says the menu is too fancy and she won't be able to eat anything . i give up:(
Dumpling I hope all goes well for you n Becky today and services promised are put in place
Hugs to all the poor lies and those who have difficult times going on
Have a great day whatever you are up to0 -
Morning all,
bright sunny day here but oh so cold.
Tragic to hear of another construction company going to the wall but how they kept their financial difficulties quiet within the building industry beats me. Gone are the days when Grump could quit his job because he didnt like the look of someones face he now has to see jobs through. Working away, he always had what was classed as a 'good job', but he is now paid £3 an hour less than he was over 20 years ago. The job he is on now is secure up until March thankfully and then theres a 2 year contract that he has been headhunted for starting in May.
Didnt sleep well, didnt drink much when i had Diva yesterday so i made up for it last night, Well it was either that or wake up dehydrated this morning and thats not pleasant.... think of the worst hangover in the world and you might just get the idea of how i would feel.
Almost over the cold/flu that i had the weekend. Good job as its hung around long enough and i need to get stuck into some housework today.
Dumpling, thinking of you today. I hope all goes well with Becky. Let us know what support network the mental health team have given you.
Karcher, thinking of you. Chin up.
Tiredmum, i think your Mum and Nelskis Mum ought to meet up. They seem like a right pair of moaning minis.
Oh well, best go and load the washer,
Onwards and forwards,

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Jackie, sorry its a long time to wait for Franks funeral, but as they say at this time of year its always very busy. I hope the day goes off OK I will be thinking of you all.
OH is driving me nuts......and some. He insisted he was going to get up this morning, which he did half an hour ago, he has been for a walk round the back garden and is now back in bed asleep........He has finished the last of the medication which I think is not helping his sleepiness so hopefully in another couple of days he should start to wake up a bit, he is much better in the afternoon. Last night he managed to stay up until 9.15 before I got him into the shower and bed.
I had a decent night myself, roused a couple of times, eventually wooke at 8.20. Have just put the mince on for tonights supper, I need to find a recipe for dumpling without salt. I usually put a tablespoon of stuffing mix in with the flour and veggie suet, of course there is salt in the stuffing mix....... Tomorrow I am going to try macaroni cheese made with white cheese, I always put some mustard in the sauce, it too has salt in it............. I am just going to make a small portion for him and use my usual cheese for mine, blooming faff but it has to be done.
Sun is shining, but the wind is very cold, OH put his ski jacket on to walk round the garden, I left the back door open, bbrrrr it was cold.
Dumpling, I hope you managed to get some help in place before Beckie comes home.0 -

Tiredmum2 I've just had a quick squint at the Barbican website - will this keep your mum happy?
