O/S Daily Tuesday 16th January 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark and air feels cold.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, tonight it'll be something quick for the boys then DH and I will eat once we get back from the hospital. We didn't go last night as during the day my elder sis had text me and suggested she could go last night and Weds night and I go Tues night, I'll then go Thurs and Fri in the day as I'm on days off then. We have tickets for the theatre on Weds night which were part of the boys xmas prezzies, so as long as everything still ok at the hospital we'll be going.

Work yesterday was a busy one with an incident thrown in as well, so the Police were called too. We'll see what today brings, but it's my shorter day.

Keep safe and well x

Thanks for the start nmlc, hope your DM is improving.
    How's the new car Nanny?
Thinking of you today dumpling, hope everything is in place.

It's snowing! There's not as much on the ground as I thought there would be as we had really heavy rain last night. I've seen it now so it can stop!

Trying to get back into the swing of things, went swimming yesterday morning and going again this morning, all my muscles ache from Saturday's excercise, I'm so unfit!

Washing can wait until later, DW emptied and I did throw the hoover about yesterday, mainly as one of the log bags split and there was sawdust everywhere!

Hope you all have a good day, stay safe. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Thanks for starting us off nmlc.

After constant rain yesterday the forecast is for a dry albeit cold day today. I want to get out of the house for an hour or so today because we have a yellow weather warning for strong winds on Wednesday into Thursday and I don’t like going out when it is too windy.

I need to get a couple of bits for some baking and meals to go into the freezer so will go out to the supermarket this morning and the bank while I’m out.

Unusually, I don’t seem to have much food that needs using up. I’m pleased with that because it means that I’m planning much better and not buying things just because they are on offer, which has been one of my problems in the past.

Right, I’m going to get some more tea and sit a write my list for the supermarket.

Hugs to those who are poorly or caring for someone who is.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

I'm joining the ranks of the unwell today.

I'm cold, shivery and achy. I had a feeling yesterday I was coming down with something :(

I will go get a shower soon and see how I feel after that..but I'm not hopeful it will help.

Have a good day all and thinking of you Dumpling and Becky.

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The promised snow hasn't hit us (yet!) thankfully, but I am not counting my chickens just yet!

Just enjoying a peaceful coffee before I waken the girlies up and chaos ensues! Please don't let it snow forcing us into keeping them at home! DD is hoping she gets to the hospital (10 miles away) for her little operation and. more important, doesn't get snowbound there! Blooming snow I hate the stuff. It's nice to look at but it's the way it disrupts plans.

No plans really for today but there are numerous jobs I should be tackling if I CBA.

Have a good day all if you can and ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, carers, sad or worried who want them. Take care xx

    Good morning.

No snow here, just icy rain and high winds. Here’s hoping that the snow stays away.

I’ve got a meeting first thing and then my island students. Last night I cooked chicken thighs so I’ll take a couple to work with coleslaw for my lunch. If the snow stays away I’ll wait behind in college to finish off some work.

Healing thoughts to all who need them. Happy Tuesday to everyone.

No snow here and I doubt very much we will get any, just rain and more rain, we actually have a pond in the car park at work :rotfl:

Not sure about dinner tonight will go and rummage in the freezer after this I know there is some chicken in there so may do fahitas or summer in winter chicken.

Must have a sweep round tonight and put some washing away.

Dumpling I hope it all goes well with Becky coming home today xx

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning all.
Still dark, and presumably cold. It was wet and windy last night, and the forecast is poor.

I had yet another visit to the docs yesterday, I've been plagued by UTI's since September, in the last three years I've started to fall apart, what with one thing and another. I'm still walking about though, got to keep going.

I went to DD's after the docs, she lives nearby, and we sat talking for far too long, it was nice though. Did a few jobs when I got home, and made a roast chicken dinner, very tasty.

Today it's my exercise class, possibly coffee with friends after, we'll see.

Quiz night tonight, and thats it really.

HH, I know what you're saying about buying stuff because it's on offer, I do that too. It does always get used, but often it's in the freezer for a while. Must stop doing it, after all there are always offers.

Have a good day folks, healing thoughts to the sad, sick and worried.

    Morning

Up earlyish today. Need to get the car into service..its the first in so i will wait for it. They provide endless coffee and Ill take a book so hopefully they wont be too long but ill cope with the wait.

After that its over to mums for the dreaded shopping day. Tesco wanted to deliver the phone this morning (s*ds law) Anyway I have rearranged it so that I can pick it up and get it all set up ready for her.

Sad to hear about the Carillion collapse so many peoples jobs will be affected :( Hope its not affecting anyone on here

Last night I had a bacon caesar salad which was lovely. Wont need much tonight although I may finish the crumble I had for pudding last night. Plenty of meals to take to mum after my big cook in at the weekend.

Right time for a quick tea top up before heading out

have a good day all :A

    Good morning all,

Good luck with phone training Nelski
JackiO I'm so pleased for Jack
Dumpling thinking of you and Becky today
TA I downsized when I was widowed. Not the same thing I know but I moved from a big house that was simply too much of every kind of work to a small house that I can clean most of in a morning. Neither the HT or I have regretted it once.
Karcher that sounds like the start of what we had over Christmas. It was flu but I think we had the milder version. Either that or we're tougher than I thought. Go back to bed if you feel rough.

I'm making lunch for a friend and I today. We're following slimming world so lunch is pea and ham soup followed by lime mousse with a biscuit base (like a cheese cake base but thinner :) ) It's raining with occasional bursts of hail here so apart from taking lunch round to my friend's house (she's studying and doing assignments so I'm going to hers) I won't be venturing far.

    Take care all of you

    Morning all,

Cold and windy here today but at least it's clear so we have some pale sunshine :)

Will go over the yard soon to see my girlie and give her stable the twice weekly clear out so that will keep me warm! No idea for the rest of the day, the dogs are starting to moult quite heavily so there is always hair to be swept up.

Get well vibes to all poorlies, have a good day folks x
