I paid my 228.00 late penalty fees and i have also appealed them but i doubt i will have much success. silly law really, my neighbours between them claim CB but earn more than me.

Ive also been on another forum and have dropped my tax home pay below the limit to get CB and then the rest is going in a pension (until they stop that)

just an update, i appealed and was rejected, i appealed again and they wrote today to say they agree as they can see that the moment i knew i had to pay i did pay it back straight away and they are trying to encourage people to be honest and it was me that told customs first of the potential issue. i just wanted to say if the same is happening dont give up, fight every step of the way, if you know your telling the truth then dont let anyone stop you from fighting, if i had listened to others it was a case of accept your fate, ive paid the benefit back and now no longer claim child benefit.

If your children are under 12 then your partner if not earning must still claim for the NI credits. Claim the credits but not take the money otherwise her state pension may come up short.
