Neighbors dog broke our TV...

I'm really not sure what to do about this so any advice is appreciated!
Last week we were having our house decorated and the door was open for the decorator to come and go to his van. Our neighbors dog had gotten out of their house and came into ours, jumping onto the couch where our TV had been moved to, walked all over the TV, knocked my laptop onto the floor and them jumped all over me.
I was very shaken up (I am scared of dogs) but I confirmed the laptop was OK but didn't think to check the TV. Today we have finally moved everything back after the decorating and plugged the TV in to find the LCD has been damaged and is beyond repair.
We have no money and can't afford insurance, let alone to replace the TV. Is there anything we can do? My parents have suggested a small claims court but without the neighbors names we can't do anything.

Knock on their door and talk to them??0

We have, they have denied the TV was even on the couch and they have said we should have checked it by now and because it's been a week they won't do anything.0

Small claims court, but you'll need to have proof of how the tv was damaged.
On a slightly different note; how can you afford to pay for a decorator if you can't afford insurance?0 -
How can you prove the dog did it?0

@bluebear36 The landlord paid for the decorator

@LadyDee It was moved from the TV stand to the couch, then back again. The dog was the only thing that touched it between moves.0 -

TVs are very cheap these days, it was an accident, is it worth all the hassle for £300?0 -
@sevenhills We don't have £300 though.0

Try your local freecycle group ☺
Try to factor insurance into your monthly budget. It's a really bad idea not to have it; you'll regret it if you get burgled.0 -

Whether you suspect it was the dog and whether you can prove it was the dog are two different things. Was the decorator there as a witness?
May also be considering the long-term "cost" of taking one of your neighbours to court..0 -
Is it obvious the dog did it, for example are there dog prints on the screen, maybe take a photo and post it on here.0
