Samsung U600 - Advice please, loss of signal

Hi, just wondering if any other Samsung U600 users have problems with loss of signal. I think it is more a problem with the phone than the network because my friend and I have the same phone but different networks and both have the same trouble. Basically, signal keeps fading to either limited service or no service, first thing I know i have had a call is when I get a voicemail. I have had this problem since having the fone about 4 months now and wonder if it is something that could be rectified with a software update maybe and how I would go about it. Or have I just got a faulty handset, it loses signal loads of times during the day (i am on vodafone, friend is on orange if it makes any diff)

It is more of an irritating problem really - just wondered if any other moneysavers have had the same thing and what you did about it. Thanks.

Just glad it's on contract otherwise I would use all my credit on voicemail!!:rotfl:

    Have the exact same problem!
Driving me crazy have to hang out the window to send a text at times, othertimes that doesnt even work!!...

Seems to me that when indoors the problem is worst 'searching' 'emergency calls only' is all too familiar. When out in the open though everything seems to work fine.

***Its definately not a network issue as tried other phones and networks that worked fine where U600 didn't -handset problem.***

I did send the phone to Phones4U repair team but they just returned it (after 3 months!! and then charged me £18 for looking at it!!!) and claimed it was water damage and not a manufacturer defect... I dont think this is the case though as there are so many other people Ive read about with the exact same problem!!! As well as many people complaing about Phones4U repair teams common excuse - water damage. Plus I've never dropped it in water/used it in the rain or took it anywhere near the bathroom!

Ive contacted samsung anyway and now have to wait see what they say...

I work in the audit department at Phones 4u but I'll happily look into this and try and get it sorted for you if you want? I understand that you might not want to email me your details to do this so if you prefer you can email our customer service department at talktous@phones4u.co.uk. Just send them your name, the mobile number and postcode and tell them I told you to and we’ll try and get it resolved for you.

We don't carry out repairs ourselves though. We arrange for handsets to be inspected and repaired on behalf of our customers by an independent mobile phone repair company so we have no control over the diagnoses they make. We can only act upon the information they give to us. I understand it's annoying when you get told the problem's liquid damage, but they're not necessarily saying you dropped it in water. Changes in temperature can damage a phone such as keeping it in the car overnight, or using it whilst cooking in the kitchen. Sorry it was so long before you got it back though! As I said, I'll happily look into this for you if you want.
    Cheers, Steve.

I presumed this problem was down to poor signal in my house, didn't realise it was the phone. The predictive text is broken too, I'm going to attempt to return it and see what happens.

    Hey Steve,

Many thanks for your reply. Forgot all about posting here. Just to let you know I sent the phone to Samsung who repaired it free of charge with no questions asked, so anyone still in warranty send direct to Samsung you will need to call first on 0845 SAMSUNG! Have since purchased another mobile also, to be on the safe side incase this happens again as surely must be manufacturer defect.

    Thanks for your time anyway.
