  • Rome or Prague for me. Look on Skyscanner for flights.
  • I'm in the middle of booking Paris, went last year and absolutely loved it - going up the Eifell Tower is slighty romantic as you need to cling to each other for the fear of the height!! I recently found out it is over 1000ft tall - and I was up at the top!!

A couple of places that we have been to for long weekends that are not on the usual list:

Porto: A lovely city with excellent public transport, good food and drink at very reasonable prices, and of course trips around the Port lodges.

Valencia: Again easy to get around on their Metro, plenty of bars, restaurants and nightlife, and due to the Americas Cup now very fashionable.

Prague, Barcelona, Paris and Lisbon are also great venues. Lisbon is my favourite European capital, been 4 or 5 times now.
  • another vote for Prague - very beautiful city

Try Ljubljana in SLovenia . It is a small city with a great vibe. The people are friendly, the food is good and reasonably priced, and you can make day trips to Postojna for a visit to their amazing limestone caves, or to Bled which has a gorgeous lake.

My husband and I have been twice now and we love it. Planning another trip in the winter as the photos look amazing.

Not buying clothes for a year - it's liberating!
